Moving beyond the finished product, the team explore the interplay between natural forms and design which inspired the design journey of the new Ford Ranger Super Duty. We were thrilled to welcome Drive’s Brodie Taylor and Susannah Guthrie to our Ford headquarters last week to present Ford Australia CEO Fadi Mawal with our Drive Car of the Year trophies. In this year’s awards, the Ford Ranger took out Best Dual-Cab Ute Under $90k for the fourth year running, while our much-loved Ford Everest took out Best Off-Road SUV Under $90k for the third year in a row. We are incredibly proud of our Australia-based product development team who are behind the success of these vehicles. They have designed and engineered the Ranger and Everest especially for Aussie customers and Aussie conditions and the DCOTY awards are a great recognition of their hard work, skill and ingenuity. 

It takes courage and grit to leave home at 12 years old to chase your dreams. For Australian snowboarder Scotty James, that ambition and hard work made him a 8x X Games gold medalist, 5x Olympian and 4x World Champion. Dr Dean Miller and the Forever Reef Project, a Ford not-for-profit partner, are building a “Noah’s Ark” for coral collected from the Great Barrier Reef. Dean’s job: Head to the Reef, collect multiples of everything and keep them in a safe place. The team’s Ranger Plug-In Hybrid is playing a critical role in the mission, not only towing the boat and transporting the corals, but acting as a life-support system when the power goes down thanks to Pro Power Onboard… all while helping the team save on fuel and reduce its impact on the planet. Here’s Dean’s story.
