Every day is a sunny day for the Visual Performance Evaluation Lab (VPEL) team. Engineer Anthony Attanasio says their equipment allows them to simulate “any and all sun angles on Earth” and fix the places where your shiny new vehicle might be a little too shiny. When you get behind the wheel, "all you should focus on is how great the product is, how fresh and clean the design is, how comfortable the interior is," says VPEL operations supervisor Joe Lambrecht. The iconic “We Can Do It!” spirit of Rosie the Riveter lives on every March 21 at Ford. Teams look forward to the annual tradition of dressing like Rosie to celebrate the strength of women in manufacturing – especially because the story of Rosie is deeply rooted in Ford’s own history. Her image, popularized during World War II through a promotional war bond film and J. Howard Miller's poster, was inspired by Rose Will Monroe, an employee at Ford’s Willow Run Bomber Plant. Rosie the Riveter remains a symbol of the contributions and dedication of women in the workforce.
