We were delighted to welcome our Lexus Women for an International Women’s Day Soirée – an evening of conversation, purpose, and possibility. Joined by leaders who shape how we live and care, including neonatal specialist Dr. Stephanie Boyd from Sydney Children's Hospitals Foundation (SCHF) and culinary creative Julia Busuttil Nishimura, the occasion served as a reminder that when we give – sharing knowledge, insight, and hope – what we gain together is far greater. Nelli Zinder shared thisWhat a great #tbmapacsummit Summit! An amazing effort by the TBM Council and special thanks to Zahid Arain for making it happen. This is not just your usual conference, it’s an excellent opportunity to connect with so many talented leaders across industries, hear insights and lessons learned, and see both common and industry- unique challenges in connecting IT , finance and business together. It is a great community, and we need more events like this to share how to foster stronger connection and collaboration. #technologybusinessmanagement #tbmNelli Zinder shared thisToday at the inaugural #TBMSummitAPAC, we didn't just talk about spreadsheets. We talked about survival and strategy in the age of AI. The consensus from our speakers was clear: Stop cutting blindly: As Susan Abishara (AEMO) noted, the goal isn't to slash tech spend by 10%; it’s to identify which service offerings the business actually needs. Start aligning: Gerard Florian reminded us that "proof of value" is critical. It’s about setting shared goals and driving teams proactively toward them. From Matthew Guarini’s opening keynote to the final breakout sessions, the ecosystem showed up. Thank you to the attendees who made this a "standing room only" success. The journey to hybrid IT FinOps and TBM maturity in APAC has officially accelerated. #TBMSummitAPAC

I’ve learned something valuable from every interaction, and I’m grateful for the generosity, insight, and support. It’s been a journey filled with growth, challenge, and shared purpose, and I’ll carry those experiences with me into the next chapter. I am pivoting my path, stepping away from being a vendor (software solution architect at Red Hat/consultant with IBM). While I’m excited about what lies ahead, I’ll miss the energy, humour, passion, respect and brilliance that made my time at IBM so enjoyable. IBM has truly remarkable asset in people! Nelli Zinder liked thisNelli Zinder liked thisI’m actively seeking my next opportunity where I can have real impact. My background spans enterprise transformation, technology, delivery, and commercial governance across organisations like AIA, Bupa, and Coles. At my core, I’m purpose-led and values-driven. I care deeply about building environments where teams are connected to purpose, aligned to outcomes, and able to execute with clarity and discipline. I’m focused on senior leadership roles in transformation and execution - for me, it’s less about title and more about the right opportunity and the right culture. If you’re looking for someone who can bring structure, clarity, and momentum to complex environments, I’d love to connect. And to my network - if something comes to mind or you know where I could add value, I’d genuinely appreciate the introduction, and always welcome a coffee.

Nelli Zinder liked thisNelli Zinder liked thisI have made the decision to step down from the ACS Management Committee and conclude my membership of the Australian Computer Society. Following a recent period of reflection at a professional retreat, I have considered both my journey to date and where I can best contribute going forward. Given the current leadership transition, I believe it is the right time to create space for the incoming leadership team to move forward with clarity and focus. It has been a privilege to serve the profession, including as President and most recently as Immediate Past President. I am deeply proud of what we achieved during this time, particularly in strengthening professionalism, supporting members, and contributing to the growth and impact of Australia’s technology community. I am grateful to the many colleagues, members, and volunteers I have worked alongside. Your commitment to the profession is significant and enduring. To those who have supported me, followed my work, and engaged with my writing and speaking — thank you. I now look ahead to the next chapter, continuing to contribute to the profession in new and meaningful ways.

Nelli Zinder liked thisNelli Zinder liked thisLast week was one I won't forget. Stepping into the CEO role at DroneShield is not something I take lightly. This company exists to protect people, and that responsibility sits with me every day. What struck me most last week was not the transition itself, but the people around it. To the DroneShield team: watching you show up, stay focused, and keep executing without missing a beat reminded me exactly why this company is special. One of the highlights of the week was being able to address our 500+ strong global team at the all hands immediately following the announcement. The energy in that room, and across every screen dialled in from around the world, was something I will carry with me. You did not need the noise to settle before getting back to work. You just got on with it. That says everything. To our partners and end-users: your continued engagement and trust during this period meant more than you know. The mission we share does not pause for internal milestones, and you held that line with us. To our investors and shareholders: you back this company because you believe in what we are building. Many of you have backed it for close to a decade, when all we had was an idea of a future industry. That belief is not lost on me, and I intend to earn it every day. To Oleg Vornik and Peter James: thank you. Your continued support and counsel is something we genuinely value, and we grateful for it. I am truly honoured to lead DroneShield. Not just as a great Australian technology company, but as a team of people doing something that genuinely matters in the world right now.

Across ANZ, a new efficiency mindset is taking over. Leaders are asking: How do we scale smarter, not bigger? AI and automation are driving serious productivity gains, but they’re also raising the bar for technical capability. Today’s lean, high-impact teams are powered by senior cloud engineers, AI product specialists, and cyber leaders who can turn tech into tangible outcomes. This isn’t a cost-cutting story, it’s about capability. The Tech Hiring Shift unpacks how this mindset is reshaping talent strategy and redefining the skills that will matter most in 2026. 🧠 𝑵𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒈𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑨𝑰 𝑺𝒖𝒓𝒈𝒆: 𝑾𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑪𝑿𝑶𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝑨𝑵𝒁 𝑵𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘 Just 18 months ago, many mid-to-large Australian and NZ businesses were neck-deep in cloud migrations, data analytics, and cybersecurity upgrades. Fast forward to now, and there’s a new boardroom buzzword: Generative AI. But behind the hype lies hesitation. 💥 49% of execs say they can’t measure AI ROI 🔐 40% are worried about IP risks and data privacy 🚧 And 50% cite a lack of in-house talent as their top blocker (Sources: Deloitte, LinkedIn, Export Finance Aus) For firms with $25M–$50M IT budgets and revenues up to $1B, this creates real tension: “𝘿𝙤 𝙬𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙪𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣—𝙤𝙧 𝙬𝙖𝙞𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙘𝙝?” 👇 Here’s what I suggest tech and business leaders: ✅ 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐁𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡—𝐁𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 Start with one high-impact use case: customer service automation, marketing content generation, or internal knowledge search. Then prove ROI in 90 days. ✅ 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚 “𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞” 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐝 Instead of just financial ROI, use other indicators such as track time saved, decision quality, risk reduction, and employee NPS. Make AI success a business story, not a tech one. ✅ 𝐔𝐩𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 Create a cross-functional “AI Tiger Team” with domain experts and tech leads. Use internal sandboxes or no-code tools to co-develop solutions. ✅ 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐭, 𝐍𝐨𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 If your AI is only as good as your data, then governance, tagging, and access control need to be board-level priorities. 🎯 Final thought: 𝑮𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑨𝑰 𝒊𝒔𝒏’𝒕 𝒋𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒕𝒆𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒂𝒗𝒆—𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒎𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒔 𝒘𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒑𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒂𝒅𝒐𝒑𝒕 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒊𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒚. 🔁 If you're leading AI adoption in ANZ, how are you measuring success? Superannuation teams are being asked to move faster, stay compliant, and deliver a better member experience all at once. The challenge isn’t effort. It’s visibility. When leaders can clearly see where work is flowing, where it’s backing up, and where risk is accumulating, decision-making shifts from reactive to intentional. Capacity planning improves, service levels stabilize, and teams spend less time firefighting and more time improving. In complex operational environments, clarity isn’t optional. It’s what keeps everything moving forward. https://lnkd.in/ej5kVtRX

I’ve seen tons of cloud journeys over the past 12 years, but I really like what we've accomplished together with National Australia Bank's decade-long transformation with AWS. NAB went beyond the technical aspects of moving 400+ services. They've created something I consistently advocate for: a complete cultural and operational transformation. As a technologist, I've seen that the most successful migrations aren't just about infrastructure—they're about people and possibilities. The results speak volumes: - 100% cloud service availability (a dream for any CTO) - 30% performance boost for global users (performance boost that cloud can offer) - $1M monthly savings using AWS Graviton & EC2 Spot Instances (smart chip and architecture choices matter) - Most importantly, they've built a cloud-fluent culture with 7,000+ trained staff and 1,300+ AWS Certifications Here's what technology leaders should consider: Migration is often the starting point for continuous innovation. NAB’s success shows that when you combine technical excellence with organizational readiness, you unlock possibilities. Little plug to sign-up: Ready to start your modernization journey? Paul Smith has published a compelling AFR piece on whether Australia should prioritise sovereignty or infrastructure in AI. My thoughts? It’s both - and more. Sovereign AI is a fundamental approach to ensuring we have and maintain our voice, access to the infrastructure and a continued right to control our digital identity on the world stage. No one is suggesting this is a zero-sum game. Just like the app store ecosystem where thousands of products compete, improve, and thrive - competition fuels innovation. What I’m tired of is the lazy rhetoric that says: “Company X has already built a product so why bother?” Australians don’t give up. We never have. We don’t back down, and we never will. The world seeks out Australian products because they are trusted, high-quality, and built with integrity. That’s the Australia we’re proud of. And it’s the Australia that Sovereign Australia AI is building for. I would love to hear your thoughts below. #ai #sovereignaustralianai #innovation #australia Simon Kriss Amanda Johnstone Annette Kimmitt AM Dr Alex Antic Tiarne Hawkins Josh Griggs Jon Whittle https://lnkd.in/gFttCXyG

🌏 For all our talk of the cloud, geography still matters. When a regional outage hits, latency spikes or compliance shifts, businesses grounded in local capability bounce back faster. The Gold Coast tech ecosystem is proof that local innovation can build globally resilient systems. Hybrid edge design, regional backups, and sovereign cloud strategy ensure that when the world blinks, Australia keeps running. Local isn’t small — it’s strategic. #GoldCoastTech #Infrastructure #ResilientIT #DigitalTransformation #CloudLeadership

3,000+ applications, 5 years + . Multi-cloud. And a financial institution that couldn't afford to get it wrong, given strict security and compliance requirements. I've written up a case study from a major Australian financial institution's cloud migration program. I found it one of the more complex transformation engagements I've been part of so far. A few things I learned that don't appear in vendor playbooks: 1. Clarity on portfolio and right prioritisation is more important than application specific efforts: Clustering by business value vs. migration effort with complexity, risk, cost / debt and target state as lenses unlocks early, visible wins that buy stakeholder confidence. 2. Make defensible decision and document them: Every architecture call linked to a lens, a control, and a measurable outcome. This is what separates transformation programs from migration projects. 3. Design and track for compliance: Deliberate effort was put to make sure that cloud service choice adheres to the Multi-cloud service parity, as one of the compliance requirements. A service readiness tracker was maintained to manage the "least common denominator" tradeoffs intentionally. All exceptions were recorded in details with their respective architectural approvals. 4. Feedback loops compound: Each migration wave improved controls, automation, and patterns for the next. The program got measurably faster and more predictable over time. Full case study including the three-lens migration decision framework, key challenges, and concrete learnings is on my site. Link in comments. Curious: for those who've led large-scale cloud migrations, what's the one thing you'd do differently with hindsight? #CloudMigration #EnterpriseArchitecture #DigitalTransformation #MultiCloud #PlatformEngineering #FinancialServices
