Steven Worrall shared thisToday has been a big day for Australia’s digital infrastructure and our economic future. We officially launched the Sydney to Melbourne coastal leg of our Aura Network (previously known as Telstra InfraCo's Intercity Fibre Network) – a major step forward in building the infrastructure that will power Australia’s digital future. At a launch event by Sydney Harbour, we were joined by the Hon. Anika Wells MP, Minister for Communications, our CEO Vicki Brady and our partners to unveil a new report from Oxford Economics that highlights the network’s transformative potential to add $29 billion to GDP by FY40; create 84,000 new jobs; and deliver a $5 billion uplift in regional Australia. As AI, cloud and data-driven services transform our economy, this network forms a critical foundation for Australia’s long-term economic and technological progress. I’ve seen the scale and ambition of this build firsthand – from remote outback sites to urban corridors and it’s a privilege to be part of a team that’s shaping Australia’s digital future. Steven Worrall shared thisProud to see Telstra CEO Vicki Brady take the stage at the National Press Club yesterday, calling for a shared national vision for Australia’s digital future. Her message was clear and compelling: technology is at the heart of everything we do and it all needs to be connected. Her call for secure, reliable digital infrastructure isn’t just timely – it’s essential to our nation’s progress. Now in my second week as CEO of Telstra InfraCo, I’m energised by how this vision resonates across the entire Telstra business. From advancing the Intercity Fibre Network to enabling edge computing for AI, we’re building the digital backbone that will power Australia’s future – one that’s resilient, inclusive, and ready for what’s next.Steven Worrall shared thisI've been to Canberra many times, but today was my first time speaking at the National Press Club of Australia. As a country, we're having a national conversation about our future - about AI, productivity, and how we lift living standards for the next generation. It was a privilege to contribute to that conversation, and to talk about the role that connectivity will play. We all know how important connectivity has become in our lives. It's also a fundamental piece we've got to get right if we're going to achieve the goals we have for the country. We need to have a secure and reliable foundation of digital infrastructure, but it's not a given that this will be there. It requires massive investment, coordination and planning to deliver, and we'll need a lot more investment to remain competitive as a country. Today I called for a shared national vision for the digital future we want to create, and a plan the telco sector can align behind along with governments and regulators. That plan should make it easier to roll out digital infrastructure, and take a new approach to spectrum that uses this scarce resource to the greatest benefit for all Australians. And then we need to get started. I know from the corporate world, a vision and a plan can make a great set of slides, but it doesn’t mean anything unless you can translate it into a set of actions and get started. Thanks to Maurice, the Press Gallery and everyone who attended or listened. This is an important discussion at an important time for our country.

Steven Worrall shared thisAs the Treasurer’s Economic Reform Roundtable kicks off in Canberra this week, it's important to recognise the significant opportunity #AI holds to create a more productive, inclusive economy. At Microsoft, we see three urgent priorities that can kick-start the productivity flywheel: 🎓 A national AI skilling partnership 💡 Unified AI regulation to drive innovation 📊 Leveraging Australia’s unique strengths, from startups to datasets and datacentres AI is already transforming classrooms, boardrooms and communities. Steven Worrall shared thisI had a great conversation recently with Sean Aylmer on the Fear & Greed podcast about some of the highlights from Microsoft’s latest Work Trend Index report. We talked about the capacity gap facing many organisations, and how workers and managers have significantly different perspectives on it (particularly in Australia). We also talked about how ‘agentic AI’ is likely to change how we structure organisations. Of course, as part of that, we need to have a broader conversation in the community about how we manage risks, and use this technology safely and responsibly, so it was a timely topic as we look ahead to the productivity summit in a few months’ time. I’m very grateful to the Fear & Greed team for having me on – it was a brilliant experience to join them in the studio. https://lnkd.in/g_dBHZSk

Since the JV was formed in 2022, Sandy has led QT to deliver industry‑leading AI and data solutions - including flagship customer experience and fraud prevention initiatives - and to establish Quantium Telstra as a trusted partner delivering tangible outcomes for Telstra and our customers. 👏 I want to sincerely thank him for his leadership, partnership and contribution to QT, and wish him every success as he takes this next step. It’s a great reflection of the growing importance of software‑led, AI‑enabled operations across InfraCo and the broader business. 🚀 As Sandy transitions, Shiraz Amod will step in as interim CEO of Quantium Telstra. Shiraz has been a standout leader within the QT team. With deep AI and analytics expertise, he’s well placed to maintain momentum and continue driving strong outcomes for the business, the QT team and Telstra. 🔄 I’m also pleased to share that Sarah Anderson has taken on a new role supporting our Data & AI team, working closely with Dayle Stevens OAM and Arnab Chakraborty. Sarah will lead D&AI Operations, translating strategy into disciplined, high‑quality execution, supported by clear governance and delivery accountability. Sarah has worn many hats on the Product & Technology leadership team, perfect experience to lead execution as AI continues to accelerate across Telstra. ⚙️ Congratulations again to Sandy and Sarah, and thank you Shiraz for stepping in. Steven Worrall liked thisSteven Worrall liked thisYesterday in Sydney, union leaders and Microsoft came together for the first Microsoft–Australian Council of Trade Unions Workers’ Summit - a practical, grounded conversation about how AI is reshaping work and what responsible, inclusive and impactful adoption looks like in real Aussie workplaces. The Summit was a tangible step under the Microsoft–ACTU Framework Agreement, moving shared principles into action. It created space to listen - recognising that worker voice, capability and confidence are foundational to AI adoption that delivers value. What stood out was the seriousness and candour of the discussion. There was strong alignment on the importance of early - and continued - consultation, genuine listening to worker experience, and practical skilling pathways as AI becomes embedded across sectors. 6dSteven Worrall liked thisMental wellbeing delivers better business outcomes. That's the insight Dr Michael Gervais, Founder of Finding Mastery, shared at our Annual Gathering in April 2025. His message was clear: when we invest in our mental health and build the right conditions for people to thrive, performance follows. It's not an add-on. It's foundational. That's what our 2026 campaign is built on. Three focus areas that create real change: - Strategic investment delivers measurable ROI. Evidence-based ROI modelling demonstrates an average return of an estimated $2.30 for every $1 invested. - Leader accountability embeds psychological leadership. When leaders treat this as governance, not HR, culture shifts. - Changing the system, supporting the person. Over half of employees point to work itself as a major stress source. Better work design beats resilience training. This is why Coles, Woolworths, banks, and insurers work together through the Alliance. We share what's working because the opportunity is bigger than any single organisation can tackle alone. Businesses of all sizes are welcome to join. Steven Worrall liked thisSteven Worrall liked thisProud to share a milestone moment for digital skills in Australia. On Tuesday, the Australian Government announced that the Institute of Applied Technology Digital (IATD) will become a National Centre of Excellence — and Microsoft is honoured to be recognised as a founding industry partner. This announcement, made at TAFE NSW Meadowbank alongside the Hon Andrew Giles MP (Federal Minister for Skills and Training), Jerome Laxale MP (Member for Bennelong), and the Hon Steve Whan MP (NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education), marks an exciting next chapter for what has already been a remarkable initiative. The impact so far speaks for itself: From the very beginning, Microsoft, University of Technology Sydney, Macquarie University and TAFE NSW together designed the IATD model to provide job-ready training that is accessible, agile, and scalable. During the pilot phase, we saw: - 490,000+ enrolments in digital skills training - Significant diversity in participants — across gender, age, and communities traditionally under-represented in the technology industry - 48 graduates from the first-of-its-kind Microsoft Data Centre Academy with TAFE NSW, with another 27 graduating soon — fast-tracking students into much-needed datacentre roles Why this matters: We know that accelerating digital skills requires deep partnerships with education institutions, government, industry, and communities — and the IATD has been an exceptional example of what's possible when those partnerships come together with genuine commitment. Microsoft is proud to have participated in the creation of a digital skilling model for all Australians. These are the skills that will fulfil the needs of industry now and into the future. It's accessible. It's inclusive. And it works. Congratulations to everyone who has been part of this journey —our University partners, TAFE NSW, the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, the many Microsoft contributors and every student and educator who has helped make this a reality. #DigitalSkills #Microsoft #IATD #AI #Australia #SkillsForTheFuture #TAFENSW #Partnerships Yasminka Nemet John Galligan Jane Livesey Vivek Puthucode, GAICD Steven Miller Adam P. Steven Worrall liked thisSteven Worrall liked thisIn conversations with customers and partners across the region, one theme keeps coming up: digital resilience and how to respond through disruption. Telstra International's new research with Economist Impact challenges some long‑held assumptions in today’s digital, interconnected world. It doesn’t stop at the enterprise edge. Digital resilience now depends on subsea cables, cloud platforms, suppliers, and cross‑border data flows. And yet, only 12% of APAC organisations have direct visibility into the digital resilience of their partners. In a hyperconnected environment, that’s a real blind spot. Because disruption rarely stays contained — it moves across infrastructure, ecosystems and markets. Building true digital resilience means designing networks to adapt and reroute in real time, engineering redundancy, and strengthening how we work with partners across the ecosystem. 2wSteven Worrall liked thisWhen boards recognise mental health as a governance issue, it sets the tone for the entire culture. Leadership ownership at this level creates the conditions for real, lasting change across the organisation. The organisations making genuine progress treat psychological safety like any other governance responsibility. They embed it into how they operate, make decisions, and measure success. The launch of Data Centres Australia is an important step in Australia’s ability to compete in the global AI economy. Congrat’s to Belinda Dennett and Tim Marshall on co-founding the peak body to represent the unique needs of data centres and digital infrastructure in the AI era. Artificial intelligence is driving the fastest build out of digital infrastructure in history. The countries that can deliver compute and power at speed and scale are securing the future of job’s in the AI era. Those that cannot will fall behind. Data Centres Australia gives the country something it has not had before. A national expert peak body that integrates planning, land, power, water and skills. A single evidence based point of engagement for governments. A mechanism to modernise at the pace the world now requires. This work will define the next decade. The five pillars that guide our sector: speed, scale, sovereignty, sustainability and security must shape the national blueprint for AI era infrastructure. Thanks to the G5: AirTrunk, Amazon Web Services (AWS), CDC, Microsoft & NEXTDC teams who have worked together collaboratively as an alliance over the past 2 years on many important education initiatives to help engagement with communities and government on digital infrastructure. This takes that work and makes it a platform for the entire industry to grow jobs and competitive advantage for Australia. If you share the ambition to position Australia as a leader in critical digital infrastructure, support Data Centres Australia and join the conversation. Digital transformation in government is more than just adopting new technology; it is about delivering better services to the community in a secure, reliable, and cost-effective way. At Blue Crystal Solutions, we recently supported South Australia’s Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) in one of the largest cloud migration projects undertaken by a state agency. Over 24 months, we worked closely with DIT to move critical Oracle and SQL workloads from legacy on-premise systems to AWS. This migration was not just a technical achievement. It delivered measurable benefits: - Improved scalability and resilience for essential services - Enhanced security and compliance aligned with government standards - Greater cost efficiency and flexibility for future innovation We are proud to play a role in strengthening government IT foundations, helping agencies focus on their mission while we take care of the complexity of data modernisation and cloud migration.
