Drei Tage voller Deep-Dives auf der PyCon DE & PyData liegen hinter uns. Wir haben aufmerksam zugehört, konstruktiv debattiert und die neuesten Entwicklungen analysiert. Einst als schlanke Skriptsprache erdacht, hat sich Python längst zu einem zentralen Nervensystem der globalen KI- und Datenökonomie entwickelt. Die eigentlichen Herausforderungen sind nicht mehr syntaktischer Natur. Es geht vor allem um strategische Souveränität, nachhaltige Business-Modelle im Open-Source-Bereich und um die anspruchsvolle Übersetzung von komplexen Geschäftsproblemen in skalierbare Anwendungsfälle. All das lässt sich nicht im Alleingang lösen: es braucht den offenen Wissenstransfer und eine starke, kollaborative Community. Wir glauben an solides Handwerk und den Zusammenhalt der Community. Deshalb sind wir stolz darauf, dass wir die diesjährige PyCon DE & PyData als Silbersponsor unterstützt haben und mit insgesamt sechs Talks im Programm vertreten waren. PyCon DE & PyData Darmstadt 2026: One week, countless conversations and learnings This year, we joined PyCon DE & PyData Darmstadt again as community partner, with a booth and masterclasses! At our booth, agentic coding was the central theme. In conversations with practitioners, researchers and learners across skill levels, one thing became very clear: the community needs training on agentic systems from beginner to advanced. Beyond the hallway conversations, this was confirmed by the great feedback and high demand for our two masterclasses: 🔷 Agentic engineering with Claude Code, covering agentic workflows, advanced features and configuration options of Claude Code and tips how human can stay in control and avoid cognitive and technical debt. 🔷Introduction to Agentic AI, where participants created a functional coding assistant from the ground up. The session covered agent configuration, instructions and prompting, tool integration, event inspection, model settings, and custom skill implementations. Beyond the booth, the broader conversations and talks gave us a lot to take back to our work: 👉 "What do we still need to learn?" was one of the pressing question of the conference. When AI is reshaping tasks and organisations at pace, what happens to our learning structures, our professional skills, our leadership models? 👉 Digital sovereignty is increasingly treated as a physical, measurable challenge . That shift matters. 👉 Responsible AI came up not as a question of explainability methods or LLM evaluation metrics alone, but as a matter of design, infrastructure, and political choice. 👉 Foundation models are expanding beyond language: tabular foundation models and causal inference were among the most interesting technical directions we saw. And no small thing: AI fatigue is real. Keeping pace with AI developments is a genuine burden, and acknowledging that honestly is part of doing this work well. “We Get Things Done.” That was the motto of PyCon DE & PyData 2026. It wasn’t just a slogan. It was the most honest description of what so many people built together in Darmstadt over four days. I want to put a few things on record. Our program committee reviewed hundreds of submissions and shaped a program with real substance and carried their tracks all the way from the CfP to the on-site coordination. Our volunteers at the Darmstadium handled registration, rooms, and speaker support with the kind of calm and care that only real teamwork can produce. Pioneers Hub gemeinnützige GmbH kept the whole operational engine running in the background, where so much of the important work happens and where almost nobody sees it. And our sponsors supported the community in a meaningful way, not just as a branding exercise. That matters. Thank you also to all our speakers, who brought their work, their ideas, and their energy to the conference. And thank you to everyone who answered a question in the hallway, helped someone find their way, made space at a table, or simply took the time to be welcoming. Conferences are built on that kind of generosity too. Every keynote, every talk, every hallway conversation rested on the work of people who showed up, took responsibility, trusted each other, and kept going. Week after week, for months. No drama, no heroics. Just care, skill, and commitment. And there is one more thing I want to say. In past years, the Python Software Foundation was able to support our diversity program. This year, because of the political climate in the US, that support was not possible. I won’t pretend that did not hurt. But I am proud of what happened next. We closed that gap ourselves. We stepped in. We made it work. We are the Python Software Verband e.V., and in that moment, that meant something very real to me. I spoke about this briefly on stage, and I did not expect it to hit me the way it did. But it did. I suddenly found myself close to tears 😭. Not because things were perfect. Not because this work is easy. But because for a moment, you could really see what community looks like when it becomes action: people showing up for each other and carrying something together. That is what I will remember. Thank you to everyone who carried a piece of it. Recap: dmTECH bei der PyCon DE & PyData DE 2026 in Darmstadt 🐍 Drei Tage voller Python, Programmierung, Daten und KI. Über 20 Kolleg:innen aus verschiedenen dmTECH Geschäftsbereichen waren vom 14. bis 16. April bei der Konferenz dabei – als Teilnehmende, Sponsor und aktive Mitgestaltende im Program Committee. 🤝 Gemeinsam haben wir gezeigt, dass uns Open Source am Herzen liegt. Besonders wertvoll: die persönlichen Begegnungen und Dialoge innerhalb unserer Gruppe sowie der Python-Community. Aus Teams-Avataren wurden echte Gespräche, neue Ideen und ein noch stärkeres Miteinander. Gekrönt wurde der Konferenzbesuch durch einen spielerischen Erfolg: Bei der Konferenz-Schnitzeljagd landete dmTECH mit Platz 1 und Platz 3 gleich zweimal auf dem Treppchen. Für uns ist klar: Die PyCon 2026 hat bestätigt, dass wir ein aktiver und innovativer Teil der deutschsprachigen Python-Community sind. 💜 Wir freuen uns schon jetzt auf die PyCon 2027 in Heidelberg – für viele von uns quasi vor der Haustür.
