Audiobooks – show chapters in web view
-
When using the PocketCasts web interface, allow the user to see a list of And select chapters with chapter names where they exist
-
We do support chapters in the desktop/web app. You can find more about that in our Chapters documentation. Was there a specific podcast where you were having trouble with chapters?
-
Hi, I don’t believe it does support chapters, for Audiobooks (not podcasts) on the web or Mac app view, whereas these do show on iOS.
To replicate:
- Import an Audiobook as .m4a to files
- Open IOS app, play Audiobook file. Click on the name of the audiobook, chapters are shown
- Open web app or Mac and open the same file, click on name of audiobook. Instead of chapters, the message shown is:
- This isn’t available
- We couldn’t find this episode. It may have been removed or the link may be out of date.

Thanks for providing more detailed steps to reproduce this – really helpful!
This is actually a known limitation of the web and desktop apps right now. While iOS support M4A chapters, for example, the web and desktop apps do not.
You can read more about platform-specific chapter support here. The team is aware of this gap and hopes to address it in the future. In the meantime, the iOS app remains the best option for navigating chapters in your imported audiobooks.
Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback!
