Institute for War & Peace Reporting

Latin America and the Caribbean

  • IWPR works globally to support media and civil society to achieve change in contexts of conflict, crisis, or transition. Where propaganda, hate speech, and attacks against journalists and activists are rampant, IWPR promotes reliable information and public debate.

  • In Latin America and the Caribbean, we lead ambitious projects supporting investigative journalism and media development in areas ranging from business models to audience growth, always with a comprehensive security focus.

  • Our support has reached dozens of media outlets and hundreds of journalists, with a particular emphasis on national and cross-border investigations into corruption, organized crime, propaganda distribution networks, and human rights abuses, among others.

  • Many of the investigations we have supported have led to policy changes and/or have been recognized with major awards for journalistic excellence in the region. You can see a sample of our investigations. here
