Panel: The State of Data Science in Europe (video)
PyData
See publicationI chaired the panel at the second PyData event in Berlin, we discussed topics related to Data Science in Europe, how companies change after starting Data Science activities, and challenges in the Data Science ecosystem.

Interview with Data Scientists: A Discussion of the Industry
Leanpub
See publication'Big Data' is certainly a cultural and business phenomenon. But what challenges do Data Scientists face in their day-to-day jobs. This collection of interviews with thought-leaders with experience at firms such as Etsy, Spotify, Amazon, Shopify and Stitchfix is an invaluable read to anyone working as a data scientist or managing a team.

Masters Thesis: Concentration inequalities and some applications to Statistical Learning Theory

See publicationThe recent work by Daniel J.McDonald in his PhD thesis highlighted
a fascinating problem - how does one bound forecasting risk for time
series models if such models do not contain i.i.d data? We introduce in
this thesis the language of concentration inequalities and prove some
of the classical results. We then proceed and introduce the framework
of Empirical Process Theory. After introducing the reader to modern

expected inaccuracy of the predictions for traditional time series

Probabilistic Programming with PyMC3
PROC. OF THE 8th EUR. CONF. ON PYTHON IN SCIENCE (EUROSCIPY 2015)
See publicationIn recent years sports analytics has gotten more and more popular. We propose a model for Rugby data - in particular to model the 2014 Six Nations tournament. We propose a Bayesian hierarchical model to estimate the characteristics that bring a team to lose or win a game, and predict the score of particular matches. This is intended to be a brief introduction to Probabilistic Programming in Python and in particular the powerful library called PyMC3.

PyMC3
See projectPyMC is a python module for Bayesian statistical modeling and model fitting which focuses on advanced Markov chain Monte Carlo fitting algorithms. Its flexibility and extensibility make it applicable to a large suite of problems.

A Probabilistic Programming model of the Six Nations
In preparation for the Six Nations. I produced an innovative generative model using Probabilistic programming and Bayesian statistics to predict the eventual winner of the Six Nations.
I submitted this as the first guest addition to 'Probabilistic-Programming-and-Bayesian-Methods-for-Hackers'
I went onto speak about this at PyData Berlin and give a tutorial at PyData London.

Wake Vortex Turbulence prediction
Together with a team of software engineers I leveraged my knowledge of software architecture and mathematical models that produced a wake vortex turbulence prediction model. This was for the Aviation industry. I prototyped the model and delivered a RESTful API via a micro service architecture that was implemented in the final software. This innovative Data Product was shortlisted for an award and achieved excellent results on time and on budget.

EFN Network Visibility Project
My responsibilities included doing root cause analysis both using data analysis tools like Tableau and SQL to isolate performance enhancing opportunities in a large Supply Chain Network program.
The deliverable was a automated daily report telling stakeholders the current status of the supply chain network so that they could best allocate their resources.

-I was a regular member for two years who also evangelized the meetup, this included convincing some noted Data Analytics Professionals to come to speak at the event. The Data Science meetup group in Luxembourg now has a substantial audience of about 30 - 40 regularly attending members, and organizes Kaggle competitions and some Workshops. We've had talks on Statistics, AWS, Machine Learning and various case studies from Airline Analytics, Retail, Finance and other business areas. I was…
