• Immediately had issues with saving or creating snippets after updating the plugin to 1.4.1. Also, the menu page only showed the names of the snippets instead of the expected shortcodes that have shown for years.

It is a minimal WordPress installation using a basic WordPress Genesis Block Theme, and I disabled all other plugins and still couldn’t update any existing snippets OR create new ones.

Reverted the site back to prior to the plugin update, and the 1.3.8 version works perfectly.

Are there plans to fix and release a new update, or revert your latest version to 1.3.8 since 1.4.1 is clearly not functioning properly?

  • Hi

Thank you for reaching out. The issue occurs because version 1.4 introduced new database columns, including insertionMethod, which might not have been added during the update.

To resolve this, please follow these steps:

    1. Deactivate the Insert PHP Code Snippet plugin.
    2. Reactivate the plugin—this should trigger the necessary database updates.
    3. Clear any caching plugins (if applicable) and check if the issue persists.

Additionally , only snippets with the placement method set to “Manual Shortcode” will appear in the dropdown (provided they are in active status).

If the placement location is set to “Automatic” or “Execute on Demand,” the snippets will not be displayed in the list.

The XYZ PHP Code Snippet plugin does not currently support bulk assigning snippet placements. Each snippet needs to be assigned individually.

If the error continues, please let us know, and we’ll assist you further.
