Oracle Restaurants Amber Trendell recently joined Justin Foster at the Restaurant Tech Trends podcast to explore how tech is reshaping restaurant ops, from AI to smarter data-driven decisions. Worth a listen for anyone in hospitality & tech.
Today on 🍔Restaurant 🤖Tech 📈Trends I sit down with Amber Trendell, Senior Director of Strategy for Restaurants at Oracle - someone who lives at the intersection of restaurant operations and enterprise technology every single day. 📺WATCH AND LEARN📺 👉 Why kiosks and self-service are seeing triple-digit transaction growth between 2024-2026, and why the smarter upsell story (not just convenience) is the real driver behind that shift 👉 Where agentic AI workflows are being deployed across Oracle's stack, and why labor scheduling and inventory are the two areas ripest for "no longer needing to interact with a software application at all" 👉 How Oracle's PIER review framework (Payments, Integrations, Extensions, Reporting) is the secret sauce to avoiding the costly mistakes that derail enterprise POS rollouts ➕ PLUS: Amber's rapid fire answers on the most overrated restaurant tech trend right now (👀 dynamic pricing), the one metric CIOs need to care more about (hint: it happens in the kitchen 🍳), and her guilty pleasure fast food order lol Thank you Amber for the thoughtful conversation and for sharing such a grounded, enterprise-scale perspective on where restaurant tech is headed. 🚀

Kicking off the Oracle Restaurants Summit, Simon De Montfort Walker set the tone with a perspective that really stuck with me. 👉 The real shift isn’t just AI in applications. It’s the platform underneath everything. For decades, Oracle has been trusted with the world’s most critical data, the kind where failure isn’t an option. Now, that same foundation is powering the next wave of AI. A few things that stood out to me: 1. AI is only as good as the data behind it Accuracy, trust, and governance aren’t “nice to haves.” They’re what separate experimentation from real outcomes. 2. The future isn’t bolt-on AI. It’s embedded, frictionless AI This one hit home. The goal isn’t more tools. It’s removing friction so employees and customers don’t even realize AI is there. It just works. 3. Platform > point solutions When your database, applications, infrastructure, and data platform actually work together, everything changes. That’s what allows AI to scale. Not just in a lab, but during a 5pm rush or game day at a stadium. 4. Innovation is happening across industries, and it really shows up here What we’re learning in utilities, construction, and financial services is directly shaping what’s possible in restaurants. One example that stood out, communications technology originally built for first responders is now helping deliver more bulletproof connectivity in restaurant environments. That cross-industry DNA is a real differentiator. 5. We’re moving from experimentation to industrialization. We’ve built the engine. Now we’re building the assembly line, turning AI into something repeatable, scalable, and actually operational. What excites me most? This isn’t future-state thinking. From inventory optimization to labor planning to real-time operations, this is already happening today. The next step is making this feel natural, trusted, and actually helping operators run smarter while improving the experience for customers. #Oracle #AI #Restaurants #Retail #Hospitality #Innovation
