  • As organisations confront the realities of digital transformation and the growing imperative for board diversity, there are key strengths that SCS’ immense pool of women tech leaders can bring to the table. For many women considering the path to the boardroom, the first question is often a simple one: 👉"Where do I even begin?"   A useful starting point is the Council for Board Diversity Singapore’s guide on preparing for a board role. It is a practical reminder that board readiness does not happen by chance. It is built intentionally. A few messages stand out: 1️⃣ Understand the role clearly A board seat is not simply a recognition of career success. It is a stewardship role requiring sound judgement, oversight, independence of thought and the ability to guide organisations through complexity, risk and change. 2️⃣ Invest in formal preparation Programmes offered by institutions such as #SID, #ISCA, #SMU and #INSEAD can help aspiring directors build stronger grounding in governance, strategy, fiduciary duties and board effectiveness. 3️⃣ Develop your board value proposition intentionally Strong board candidates are not defined only by seniority, but by the perspective they bring. For women in technology, that may include digital transformation, cyber and risk oversight, data and AI, innovation, platform thinking, customer experience, or experience leading change across large and complex organisations. 4️⃣ Build visibility and activate networks Board opportunities often emerge through trusted relationships, search firms and board matching platforms. Being intentional about profile, presence and readiness matters.   💡At SCS Women in Tech Chapter, this is particularly resonant. Our community brings exactly the blend of leadership, technology perspective and transformation experience that boards increasingly need. As Singapore continues to grow its pipeline of women directors, having structured guidance like this helps make the journey more accessible and intentional. This is why efforts such as the Board Readiness Programme introduced by the Singapore Computer Society and the Singapore Institute of Directors are important. They reflect a broader ambition to build a stronger pipeline of board-ready women in technology, while helping boards strengthen their digital readiness at a time when technology is central to strategy, resilience and long-term value creation. Board diversity is not only about representation. It is about bringing different perspectives to the table, strengthening decision-making and helping organisations navigate a fast-changing world with greater confidence. If you are considering a board role, this is a helpful resource to bookmark and revisit 👉🏼 https://lnkd.in/gHWyqMDt   #WomenInTech #BoardReadiness #WomenOnBoards #BoardDiversity #CorporateGovernance #DigitalLeadership

  • Sherrie Huang recently recommended a book that offered a perspective worth reflecting on: The Almanack of Naval Ravikant offers a refreshing lens in a world constantly chasing the next big thing. Instead of focusing on trends, it nudges us to build what truly compounds over time - judgment, leverage, and long-term value. Because in today’s fast-evolving landscape, the real advantage isn’t just what you know. It’s how you think. • How you make decisions • What problems you choose to solve • What resources and networks you can bring together • And how you position yourself over time A simple but powerful reminder: tools will change, but clarity of thinking endures. #Leadership #CareerGrowth #Mindset #WomenInTech #Learning

  • ✨ Give to Gain: Real Talk, Real Partnership ✨ As a wrap up to International Women’s Day, we hosted an open and refreshingly candid panel with an inspiring power couple Dorothy Yiu & Jonathan Seow, CPA who shared what it really takes to grow together - at home and at work. From navigating careers to building a strong partnership, their message was clear: success is built together, through trust, support, and shared effort. 3 Key Takeaways:  1️⃣ Don’t be shy to ask for help — strength comes from knowing you don’t have to do it all alone.  2️⃣ Communicate openly and figure things out together — partnership is a continuous conversation.  3️⃣ Look around you — when we uplift others, we all rise. As we reflect on this year’s theme, “Give to Gain,” we’re reminded that generosity of time, trust, and support creates stronger communities and more inclusive workplaces. 💜 Thank you to our speakers, Maggie Leong, Binny Peh 白汇彬 and everyone who joined us for this meaningful dialogue. Let’s keep the conversation going and continue lifting each other up. #SCSWomenInTech #IWD2026 #GiveToGain #WomenInTech #Allyship #Community #Leader

  • Our mentor Pooja Chandwani (She/Her) went the extra mile in her #WITCircle mentoring journey, turning guidance into real opportunity. What started as a mentoring relationship didn’t stop at conversations and advice. Recognising her mentee’s potential, Pooja opened a door that truly matters - offering her an internship opportunity at her company. That’s the power of mentorship. It’s not just about sharing experiences. It’s about creating pathways. It’s about taking action. When mentors choose to go beyond, the impact can be life-changing. If you’ve ever wondered whether you should mentor, this is your sign. Join #WITCircle as a mentor by commenting on this post and we’ll reach out to you. #WomenInTech #Mentoring #MentorHer

  • What does it take to truly thrive in career, family, and purpose? Join us for an inspiring session with Dorothy Yiu and Jonathan Seow, CPA, a power couple who have turned partnership into purpose, working together to champion women in tech and beyond.   Through their journey, we’ll explore how shared responsibilities, encouragement, and advocacy, both at home and at work can create powerful ripple effects that enable women to thrive, lead, and innovate.   We’re also delighted to feature Maggie Leong, a certified Gallup CliftonStrengths coach, who will share practical insights on leveraging your innate strengths to build a resilient and impactful career. In today’s dynamic tech landscape, women often navigate competing demands across career, family, and personal values. • It was wonderful to reflect on the past year's initiatives, conversations, partnerships, and milestones that continue to strengthen our mission of advancing women in the tech ecosystem. But we never stand still. As we look ahead, we remain committed to driving meaningful impact by: 1. Championing leadership and career growth 2. Strengthening community and allyship, and 3. Nurturing mentorship and a strong talent pipeline for the next generation of Women in Tech. We are excited for what lies ahead and look forward to the many opportunities to grow, connect, and make an even greater impact together.

  • An open and candid panel discussion last week on this year’s International Women’s Day theme, “Give to Gain.” It challenges a common assumption in our careers that success is a solo pursuit. But if we reflect honestly, none of us got here alone. Someone opened a door.
Someone gave us a stretch opportunity.
Someone believed in us before we fully believed in ourselves. Giving, whether it is time, mentorship, sponsorship, or trust does not diminish us. It multiplies impact. We were privileged to have Queenie Chan moderating the conversation, alongside inspiring leaders across GovTech product, homeland security, and education - Liyana Fauzi, Elton Loh, Miow Ting Teo. Each shared personal stories and experiences of how a simple act of giving changed someone’s trajectory, or how they themselves gained something unexpected from giving. Perhaps the real power of “Give to Gain” is not about giving more, but about giving intentionally in ways that create lasting change for ourselves and others. Once again, Happy International Women’s Day!

  • What was meant to be just another event turned into an evening of important reflections on where the tech industry and our careers are heading. We were inspired by keynote speaker Lesley Carhart, who shared powerful insights on Building a Personal Persona in Cybersecurity, and by the two thought‑provoking breakout discussions: 🔹 "How AI is Rewriting the Cyber Playbook" moderated by Burcu Bicakci with CK CHIM and Dr. Monisha Oberoi 🔹 "What It Takes to Succeed in Cybersecurity Today" moderated by Joyce Lee with Lesley Carhart and Matt Edmondson Across all the sessions, a few key learnings stood out: 1️⃣ Real connections matter more than LinkedIn connections In a world where many of us have thousands of LinkedIn contacts, what truly matters is real human connection. Not just adding someone online, but having conversations, exchanging ideas, and supporting one another in the community. Technology may connect us digitally, but careers are still built through trust and genuine relationships. 2️⃣ AI is here to stay but technical skills alone are not enough One of the strongest themes was how AI is rewriting the cyber playbook. However, the most valuable capability today is not just knowing how to build AI. It is AI FLUENCY understanding how AI works, how it should be used responsibly, and how domain experts can influence the way AI is designed, deployed, and governed. Technology leaders of the future will need to combine technical knowledge, business context, and ethical judgement. 3️⃣ Community and mentorship matter more than ever In today’s market, where the job environment is increasingly challenging, communities like WIT become even more important. Opportunities often come from people who know your work, trust you, and support your journey. Mentorship, knowledge sharing, and strong professional communities help create that support system. These conversations reminded us that the future of technology would not be defined only by AI or cybersecurity innovations, but by the people and communities building them together. Thank you to all speakers, moderators, and every attendee who contributed to the energy in the room. Let’s continue the conversations, support the community, and grow together. #Cybersecurity #AI #WomenInTech #Community #CareerGrowth #SANSInstitute #ThePersonaProject
