In 2024, teams from across Xbox came together to crack a deceptively simple question: How do we remove single-use plastics from Xbox’s product packaging? The sustainable-focused thought experiment quickly turned into a high-stakes design conundrum. The teams would have to redesign cushioning, account for new moisture considerations, and without shrink wrap, they’d have to reimagine coating—a process that included the creation of 1,165 prototype boxes across 125 design-of-experiment trials. And, of course, this would all have to be done without changing the experience for consumers. This Earth Day, read about how Xbox solved the packaging challenge for the Xbox Series X|S consoles, and became one of the earliest testing grounds at Microsoft for eliminating single-use plastics from product packaging across all of our consumer devices: https://xbx.lv/3OBvZJ6 We’re proud of the progress we’ve made, yet the work towards a more sustainable future is never complete. Gaming brings joy to players, but we recognize that it also has an impact on our environment. Our commitment to our players and the industry is to continue to improve that impact and help set the bar for gaming in a responsible way.

The Blizzard Entertainment team is giving credit where it’s due—Post Match Accolades are back in Overwatch. Post Match Accolades let you recognize impact beyond the battle. After Play of the Game, you’ll have a short window to vote for the teammate or opponent who really stood out, with the MVP getting a dynamic, animated spotlight before the match wraps. Vote for things like great sportsmanship, team player, clutch saves, game-changing pressure… the little things that win matches but don’t always show up in the raw stats and deserve some time to shine too. It's a unique feature that makes matches feel more personal, prestigious, and more than a score screen. Overwatch - Reign of Talon S2: Summit is available now.

Extraordinary talent resides everywhere. Which is why we launched Xbox Game Camp as a way to empower future waves of creators, storytellers, and game studios. And this June, the team is expanding with a first-of-its-kind partnership.   Xbox Game Camp Minneapolis, presented by the Best Buy Foundation, will bring together 50 aspiring game creators (ages 18-19) to experience key aspects of building a video game–from concepting to building a playable prototype.   The program offers 12 weeks of tailored learning, community-building, and direct mentorship from experts across Microsoft, Xbox, and the Best Buy Foundation, plus local support from each participating Teen Tech Center.   Xbox Game Camp and the Best Buy Foundation share a belief: When you invest in underrepresented communities and give aspiring creators the tools, knowledge, and support to pursue their goals, incredible things happen. This program is built to expand access to technology and mentorship, ignite future game developer connections, and create measurable pathways into education and early-career opportunities.   To learn more about Xbox Game Camp and to register for Xbox Game Camp Minneapolis visit: xbx.lv/4sF6EMD
