Social icons in theme menu turn into colored dots after update (2.7.2+)
-
Hello,
I would like to report a regression issue related to “Responsive Lightbox & Gallery”.
Environment:
- WordPress: 6.9.1
- Theme: WEN Travel Modern
- Responsive Lightbox & Gallery:
- 2.7.1 → works correctly
- 2.7.2 / 2.7.3 / 2.7.4 → bug occurs
Issue description (important):
After updating Responsive Lightbox & Gallery from 2.7.1 to 2.7.2+ the social icons break ONLY in the theme’s system menu / menu area (WEN Travel Modern).
What happens in the theme menu after the update:
- icon glyphs disappear
- only colored circular backgrounds remain (looks like colored dots)
What does NOT happen:
- The native WordPress “Social Icons” block used inside normal page/post content still renders correctly.
- The issue appears to be limited to the theme/menu output (system menu area), not regular content blocks.
Reproduction / workaround:
- Updating the plugin to 2.7.2+ triggers the issue in the theme menu.
- Disabling Responsive Lightbox & Gallery immediately restores correct social icons in the menu.
- Downgrading Responsive Lightbox & Gallery back to 2.7.1 also fully restores correct menu icon rendering.
This suggests a regression introduced in 2.7.2+ that likely affects global styles or SVG/icon rendering in certain theme/menu contexts.
Attachments:
I am attaching screenshots:
- before update (2.7.1 – menu icons visible)
- after update (2.7.2+ – menu icons become colored dots)
Please investigate and fix this regression.
Thank you very much for your help and for maintaining the plugin.before update (2.7.1 – icons display correctly)

after update (2.7.2+ – only colored dots without icons)

Hi,
Thank you for the report.
We were able to verify this as a real regression. The issue is not with the standard WordPress Social Icons block in post/page content, but with widgetized/theme-rendered output. In affected versions, Responsive Lightbox & Gallery can interfere with that widget output and strip the icon markup, which leaves only the colored circular backgrounds visible.
As a temporary workaround, please try disabling the Widgets option in Responsive Lightbox & Gallery -> General settings. If that menu area is rendered through a widget/sidebar context, this should stop the plugin from modifying that output and the icons should display correctly again.
Please note that this is only a workaround, because disabling that option also disables Responsive Lightbox & Gallery processing for widget content site-wide.
We are working on this issue and plan to propose a fix in the next plugin release.
