I am using HIvepress. If I try to add a new listing by going to Listings > Add Listing, then I can see all the fields and attributes. The Vendor box shows me as (optional) and shows my login. If it is optional, I am unable to choose any other Vendor. There are several Vendors listed on the site but I cant create a new listing for them or on their behalf, as Vendor list will not allow me to choose a Vendor. How can this be overcome so that I can choose a Vendor, being the admin of the site. This feature is helpful as sometimes people (Vendors) are unable to list the profiles themselves but ask us to upload their profuile for them. So unless we can select a Vendor we are unable to make the listing in their name but it will show that all the listings added from the backend were attributed to the admin of the website whereas we want the option to select a Vendor and link the listing to them. Thank you

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the details.

Just wanted to clarify that the frontend form is designed for direct submission by users. However, if you need to create listings on behalf of other vendors, you can easily do this from the backend as an admin. Simply go to Listings and click the “Add Listing” button, you’ll see a Vendor field there that allows you to assign the listing to any vendor you’d like.

Hope I helped with your request.

When I choose from the backend, it only shows the Vendor to be admin and I am unable to select any other vendor as the area is greyed out.

Can you advise what to be done?

@kseniiahivepress I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never ask for credentials on these forums. I’ve removed your last post.

    https://wordpress.org/support/guidelines/#we-reserve-the-right-to-manage-the-forums-to-the-best-of-our-ability

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then you the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly asking for credentials will result in us escalating this to the plugins team.

It’s never necessary to do that. Here’s why.

There are many ways to get information you need and accessing the user’s site is not one of them. That’s going too far.

*Ask for a link to the https://pastebin.com/ or https://gist.github.com log of the user’s web server error log.

*Ask the user to create and post a link to their phpinfo(); output.

*Ask the user to install the Health Check plugin and get the data that way.

*Walk the user through enabling WP_DEBUG and how to log that output to a file and how to share that file.

*Walk the user through basic troubleshooting steps such and disabling all other plugins, clear their cache and cookies and try again.

*Ask the user for the step-by-step on how they can reproduce the problem.

    You get the idea.

Volunteer support is not easy. But these forums need to a safe place for all users, experienced or new. Accessing their system that way is a short cut that will get you into real trouble in these forums.

    Thanks for the details.

This is not the default behavior, the admin should be able to assign a different vendor even for existing listings.

Could you please let me know what role the showcased user has? You can check this in the Users section. Also, please confirm whether there are any customizations on the website and, if so, whether you’ve tried disabling them to rule out conflicts. It would also be helpful to temporarily disable third-party plugins and check if the issue still persists.
