Formal night! 💙✨ Choosing an outfit, getting ready with friends, taking photos and sharing the excitement. These are the moments that make formal so special. We’re supporting students with access to brand-new outfits for their formal, giving them the opportunity to choose something they feel comfortable and confident in. Wishing every student a wonderful night and memories to look back on for years to come. #ThreadTogether #NewClothesForNewBeginnings

Partnering with fashion brands to connect people in need with new clothing
About us
Thread Together is a registered Australian charity connecting people experiencing hardship with brand-new clothing, with dignity, choice and care. We partner with fashion brands and retailers across Australia to receive new clothing and redistribute it to people who need it most, including women and children escaping domestic and family violence, people experiencing homelessness, refugees and asylum seekers, First Nations communities, people impacted by disaster, and individuals facing financial or personal crisis. Our service is delivered through a national network of charity and community partners, mobile wardrobe vehicles, clothing hubs, online ordering for caseworkers, and wardrobes placed directly inside women’s shelters. This ensures people can access the clothing they need in a way that feels respectful, practical and empowering. Powered by volunteers, Thread Together helps transform excess new clothing into confidence, dignity and opportunity for thousands of people across Australia.

Poverty is about more than what you have. It’s about having the dignity, choice and opportunity to participate fully in society. On this International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Trevor, Quinn and Rose share their experiences and what access to brand-new clothing and choice has meant to them. We hope their words help build greater understanding of the experiences that can sit behind poverty and disadvantage. #InternationalDayForTheEradicationOfPoverty #NewClothesForNewBeginnings

Coming together to support our community. 💙 More than 3.7 million people in Australia are living in poverty, including 757,000 children. That’s around 1 in 6 children. For Anti-Poverty Week, Thread Together joined Vinnies Vans, the Payce Foundation and community partners at Waterloo Green to connect people with practical support, essential services and community connection. Together, the partners made a meaningful difference on the day: 💙 168 people accessed brand-new clothing through Thread Together 🍲 Vinnies Vans provided hot meals 👁️ Mobileyes Optometry And Dental Services and the Dental Health Foundation provided eye tests and dental cleans Thank you to the PAYCE Foundation, Vinnies Vans and all the partners who helped bring the community together. By working together, we can help people access essential support with dignity and choice. #AntiPovertyWeek #CommunityInAction #NewClothesForNewBeginnings

The next step for fashion brands beyond product donation. Today, we’re proud to launch Thread Together’s Fashion Impact Collective. For years, fashion brands have helped us connect brand-new clothing with people who need it. The Collective brings the industry together to help sustain the system behind that impact, supporting the people, infrastructure and operations that make it possible. More than 70 founding brands and retailers have already joined us, and we’re inviting more of the fashion industry to be part of this shared commitment. Because meaningful impact isn’t about what one brand can do alone. It’s about taking shared responsibility for the system that makes impact possible. Sometimes, the little things can make a meaningful difference. For Karen, having the freedom to choose brand-new clothing brought comfort, confidence and a sense of self. This World Mental Health Day, we’re grateful to Karen for sharing her story and reminding us of the importance of dignity, choice and connection. Take a moment to check in with someone this Mental Health Day. 💙 #WorldMentalHealthDay #MentalHealthMonth #ThreadTogether
