Enjoyed joining the AWS Executive Summit with Alex Walker Turner for a keynote session to share our research and perspective on what it takes to get the strategy, adoption & scale and value capture of AI right. Great discussion post keynote. A few takeaways include: - All organizations are mobilizing on AI with most grappling with the shift from pilot purgatory to real scale and impact - 2027 will be about beginning to realise (and measure) the value from AI investments and efforts to date - How organizations execute, including talent, op model, adoption and scale, will be as important as the strategy, data and tech. These are an "and", not an "or" - Understanding and managing the true / full cost of AI will be top of mind for CIOs and management teams going forward Look forward to continuing the discussion

Supply remains concentrated across many commodities, even as companies and governments are looking to diversify supply chains and strengthen regional capabilities. Our new Global Materials Perspective 2026 finds that 9 of the 13 commodities with both high critical-mineral importance and high production concentration now face trade barriers imposed by a top-three supplier country. But diversification is about more than securing access to resources. The availability and economics of refining, processing, and recycled feedstocks are equally important. With value shifting upstream and processing margins under pressure, building resilient supply chains requires understanding how every part of the value chain fits together. Explore what these dynamics could mean for building resilient supply chains: https://lnkd.in/exnRpA2s #McKinsey #GlobalMaterialsPerspective #Canada

What does it really take to build an intelligent enterprise, and move from AI experimentation to agentic AI at scale? This was one of the big questions we explored at McKinsey's Data & AI Summit, where I had the pleasure of moderating a discussion with Allen Bates, Rosa Tang Stotesbury, and Ganesh Bhat. Bringing together perspectives from across industries, our conversation centered on a challenge many organizations are navigating – how to fundamentally reimagine how work gets done. A few themes stood out: * Scaling AI requires curiosity: It calls for rethinking end-to-end workflows, and redesigning how teams collaborate to deliver value. * The foundations matter: As organizations embrace agentic AI, the right data, architectures, and governance become increasingly critical to scaling with confidence. * Leadership is the differentiator: Building an intelligent enterprise requires bold decisions, a willingness to challenge established ways of working, and a culture that empowers teams to experiment and adapt. People drive transformation, adoption, and enablement. Letting them lead the way is important. Thank you to everyone who joined us for such a thoughtful discussion. Exciting to see how leaders are turning the promise of AI into enterprise-wide transformation. If you’re interested in learning about some of the themes or would like to join a future summit, send me a message!

2025 was a remarkable year for metals and mining, but the industry's financial performance tells a more nuanced story. Market capitalization reached record levels, yet returns varied significantly depending on commodity exposure. Between 2015 and 2025, gold producers saw total shareholder returns increase 8.1 times, compared with 6.3 times for copper producers and 2.2 times for nickel producers. This reflects a wider shift in where value is being created across the industry. A decade ago, steel, iron ore and coal accounted for the bulk of sector value. Since then, gold and copper have gained share. In our newly released Global Materials Perspective 2026, we examine how the industry's value pools are shifting and what this means for companies considering their portfolios and capital allocation priorities.
