    This week, I had the opportunity to meet with NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, NATO Deputy Secretary General, Radmila Shekerinska, and Italy’s Permanent Representative to NATO, Ambassador Alessandro Azzoni, among other institutional and military dignitaries. I had the distinct honour of sharing with NATO Allies Leonardo’s perspective on the evolving security landscape and the critical role of industry in responding to increasingly complex threats. I addressed some of the most pressing security priorities, highlighting Leonardo’s commitment to advancing multi-domain defence. From our international industrial partnerships to investments in artificial intelligence, directed-energy systems, advanced sensors and emerging technologies, our ambition is clear: to turn technological innovation into operational capabilities, at the speed and scale required by today’s security challenges. I firmly believe that a strong, innovative and responsive defence industry is essential to #NATO’s collective security and Europe’s strategic resilience. At #Leonardo, we are committed to playing our part by combining technological sovereignty, industrial excellence and international cooperation to strengthen the security and competitiveness of Italy, Europe and our Allies.

    During my recent visit to Leonardo’s Luton site in the United Kingdom, I had the opportunity to meet the people and see first-hand the technologies that make this facility an important part of our international industrial presence. Luton supports the development of new airborne sensor and EW technologies for existing and next-generation programmes. Alongside its advanced production competencies, the site is investing in tomorrow’s engineering talents. Partnerships with local schools and #STEM initiatives are helping to inspire and develop future professionals. My thanks to all the colleagues I met for their dedication and expertise. Their commitment reflects the strength of Leonardo’s international presence, built on the talent of our people, product excellence and industrial capabilities across the countries in which we operate. Together, these strengths reinforce our position as a global technology leader and drive our ambition for the future.

    #Leonardo took part in the #GSOF Symposium Europe, the 10th edition of the international symposium organised by the Global SOF Foundation, in Rome, under the patronage of the Italian Ministry of Defence - Ministero della Difesa.   More than 750 delegates from 30 countries, including military representatives, NATO entities (NATO SOFCOM, NATO DIANA), institutions and defence companies, are meeting to discuss the evolution of special operations, #ArtificialIntelligence, drones, emerging threats and the security of critical infrastructure.   During the event, we had the honour of welcoming Admiral Frank “Mitch” Bradley, Commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, and Admiral Paolo Pezzutti, Commander COFS, to the #Leonardo stand, where we had the opportunity to share our cutting-edge solutions and capabilities.

    #Leonardo’s #CRM4Defence project is among the 46 Strategic Projects selected by the European Commission under the Critical Raw Materials Act (#CRMA).   This recognition is part of the Group’s strategy and Transition Plan and forms part of a broader circularity journey that Leonardo is pursuing in line with targets set by the European Commission.   The project involves recycling titanium, aluminium and magnesium from selected Group sites, turning manufacturing scrap into secondary raw materials to be reintroduced into Leonardo’s production processes. This #circulareconomy model aims to reduce strategic dependencies and strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of the European aerospace and defence supply chain.   The pilot phase for aluminium recycling is already underway at the #CisternadiLatina, #Venegono and #Nola sites in Italy.   Recognition as a European strategic project supports the initiative’s development through streamlined permitting procedures and facilitated access to funding instruments. Once fully operational, the project is expected to contribute to the production of up to an estimated 1,400 tonnes of secondary materials, including titanium, aluminium and magnesium; reduce supply chain energy consumption and emissions compared with production from virgin metals; support Leonardo’s circularity target of achieving 65% recovered material by 2030; and increase the recycled material content of its products.   The first phase of the project is valued at approximately €23.5 million. In a second phase, starting in 2030, the model should be extended to the supplier network, involving foundries, machine shops, SMEs, industrial partners and joint ventures, with an approximate value of €150 million.   To learn more: https://lnkd.in/d53hDAE3 #SustainableLeonardo

    La storia di Leonardo è una storia costruita nel tempo attraverso la tecnologia, l’innovazione e, soprattutto, attraverso le persone che ogni giorno hanno saputo trasformare idee, decisioni e competenze in qualcosa di concreto e tangibile. Una storia che continua con le nuove colleghe e i nuovi colleghi che ho avuto il piacere di conoscere e accogliere in occasione dell’evento inaugurale di Take-Off, il nostro primo programma di onboarding di Gruppo. Un momento che segna simbolicamente l’inizio di un viaggio, al quale ciascuno dalla propria prospettiva potrà contribuire con il proprio bagaglio professionale e i propri talenti. Negli ultimi anni, Leonardo ha compiuto un importante percorso di crescita. Tra il 2023 e il 2026, siamo passati da poco più di 51.000 a oltre 66.500 persone, con 23.000 assunzioni a livello globale. Numeri che raccontano non solo un’evoluzione quantitativa, ma anche un significativo arricchimento delle competenze e delle professionalità presenti in azienda. Credo profondamente nel valore dello scambio reciproco tra chi porta nuove capacità e approcci al lavoro e chi mette a disposizione un patrimonio di conoscenze tecniche e industriali consolidato nel tempo. È da questo incontro che nasce la possibilità di crescere insieme, alimentando l’innovazione e valorizzando il contributo di ciascuno. Desidero ringraziare il nostro Amministratore Delegato e Direttore Generale, Lorenzo Mariani, il Top Management e le colleghe e i colleghi di Leonardo per aver condiviso questo momento così importante con noi.     A gennaio 1992 ho iniziato il mio percorso professionale nell’allora Alenia Difesa. Eravamo pochi nuovi assunti, non esistevano iniziative di onboarding e ancora non potevo immaginare le esperienze e le opportunità che mi attendevano. A distanza di quasi 35 anni, ho avuto il piacere di incontrare le nuove colleghe e i nuovi colleghi in occasione dell’evento inaugurale di Take-Off, il nostro programma dedicato ai neoassunti delle realtà del Gruppo Leonardo. Un’occasione di condivisione e confronto con chi oggi inizia il proprio percorso in questa azienda. Nel corso degli anni ho ricoperto ruoli diversi, affrontato nuove sfide e lavorato in contesti internazionali che hanno arricchito le mie competenze e ampliato la mia visione. Ogni esperienza mi ha insegnato qualcosa e rafforzato una convinzione: la crescita professionale si costruisce cogliendo le opportunità, mettendosi alla prova e continuando sempre a imparare. È un approccio che considero fondamentale anche per il futuro di Leonardo, che fonda la propria competitività sulla tecnologia e sull’innovazione, e sull’eccellenza dei prodotti. Dobbiamo continuare a investire nelle competenze, favorire la collaborazione tra professionalità diverse, valorizzare il contributo delle nuove generazioni, promuovendo l’internazionalizzazione per vivere appieno la dimensione globale dell’azienda.
