[edit]
Your recent editing history at Hurricane Melissa shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing a page's content back to how you believe it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree with your changes. Please stop editing the page and use the talk page to work toward creating a version of the page that represents consensus among the editors involved. Wikipedia provides a page explaining how this is accomplished. If discussions reach an impasse, you can request help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution such as a third opinion. In some cases, you may wish to request page protection while a discussion to resolve the dispute is ongoing.
If you continue edit warring, you may be blocked from editing Wikipediaโespecially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's workโwhether in whole or in part, or whether it involves the same or different material each timeโcounts as a revert. Also, please keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringโeven if you do not violate the three-revert ruleโ if things indicate that you intend to continue reverting content on the page. ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
[edit]Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:39, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

[edit]
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Hurricane Maria. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus โ rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.
Important points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive behavior โ regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not engage in edit warring โ even if you believe that you are right.
You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. FourNoddlers (talk) 18:07, 6 December 2025 (UTC)
Please do not use misleading edit summaries when making changes to Wikipedia pages, as you did to 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. This behavior is viewed as disruptive, and continuation may result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. --Jasper Deng (talk) 00:05, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Your changes to WWII
[edit]Hello there
Please don't try to force through your changes over the objections of other editors. Two editors have objected to your changes to the info box so it is now up to you to seek consensus on the article talk page. Please see: WP:ONUS. If you are going to try to make changes to the info box it would also be a good idea to achieve competence in source coding. You can practice in your sandbox until things turn out the way you want them to.
Thank you Aemilius Adolphin (talk) 07:49, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
- hello there
- Two editors agree that we shouldn't bold the words allies and axis in the info box, so you are in a minority of one on this. Instead on insisting, you should seek to build a consensus for your preferred option on talk.

Suffix
[edit]Regarding this edit, the documentation specifically indicates that the suffix parameters are to support footnotes; why do you believe the parameter should not contain footnotes? Nikkimaria (talk) 00:23, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- I meant it is standard practice to list the record without footnotes. The template specifically says โother contentโ as well which the current practice falls under. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 00:41, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Mario, I suggest you stop reverting Nikkimaria's edits. They have been an editor since 2005 and has over 200,000 edits, plus they are a regular reviewer on FAC and is the FAR coordinator, so they know how the rules work on Wikipedia. - Iโm more specifically reverting the small font which was the main issue at hand initially. Iโm not trying to start an edit war but just removing what was violating MOS:SMALLFONT. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 00:55, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

- I mean, I'm not fussed about footnoting or not as long as the SMALLFONT issue remains solved, but I don't agree with your assertion that footnoting is incorrect. Nikkimaria (talk) 01:00, 8 May 2026 (UTC)
- Perhaps I phrased it wrong. I meant to say that generally for readerโs convenience, if a record low or record high stat is achieved in a tropical cyclone we have used the suffix parameter to note that below. Thereโs nothing wrong with the footnote, but for readerโs purposes when they first view the page we have kept that as it has been so itโs easy for them to see. Yes the small font was an issue and I went and fixed most of them. I hope that makes more sense so we donโt blow a fuss over this :) MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 01:04, 8 May 2026 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of 2025 Diaz tornado
[edit]
A tag has been placed on 2025 Diaz tornado requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.

Also I would highly suggest undoing the most recent edit on Template:Infobox weather event with regards to the Met history part, as the โas [name]โ part (which I assume you intended for use in articles on two related TCs), ends up messing up individual tornado infoboxes in outbreak articles as the name parameter used to state the locations the tornado went through, ends up writing out the entire thing as a result. Something in your edit to this template today has caused ParserFunction errors in a number of articles that use Template:Infobox Hurricane Small (which redirects to it)โspecifically, when the number in the |Pressure= parameter is preceded by a "less than" symbol. See 1921 Atlantic hurricane season for a couple of examples. I know nothing about template coding; could you investigate what the problem may be? Deor (talk) 19:36, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Ah I see the issue. Itโs something with the conversion to inHg. Iโll try to fix it. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 19:38, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Itโs an easy fix, just add the
|Pressurepre = <parameter above the pressure parameter (while removing the < from that as it now considers it invalid). MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 19:41, 2 June 2026 (UTC) - That seems to work, but now there's another problem. The infoboxes aren't displaying the field name Pressure before the numbers; instead, they're displaying {{{Pressure}}} and no numbers at all. Look at the infoboxes for the individual hurricanes in 1893 Atlantic hurricane season, for example. Deor (talk) 23:57, 2 June 2026 (UTC)
- Ugh. Iโll take a closer look at it when I get home as Iโm currently not near a computer to easily fix it. I sandboxed this a lot earlier making sure everything was good before merging, but I guess some errors slipped through the cracks. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 00:02, 3 June 2026 (UTC)

- Well, the relevant pages have been cleared from Category:ParserFunction errors, so I guess the ParserFunction problem has beeen addressed; but the field name Pressure no longer exists. Look at the infoboxes in 1901 Atlantic hurricane season, for instance; the pressure information appears as part of the Peak intensity field, separated from the wind speed by a semicolon. Was that your intention? Deor (talk) 17:41, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- God damnit. No, because Iโm trying to have them not show up if theyโre not being used, mainly for the use with winter storms. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 18:17, 4 June 2026 (UTC)
- Actually I just tested the show preview thing on an older revision of the template and the pressures always been separated by a semi-colon, so itโs actually correct for once I think. With storms with an unknown pressure itโs always been excluded since nothings typed into the parameter. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 18:23, 4 June 2026 (UTC)

Some of these though should not have been published, because of LASTING. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 18:11, 14 June 2026 (UTC)

[edit]Hello i just want to know how you make your tornado outbreak maps on some articles like this one for example .
Sorry if i bother you in any way. Del2426 (talk) 01:25, 21 August 2026 (UTC)
- I mainly make those maps by using QGIS, then downloading the zip file for the specific date containing the shp of the SPC outlooks which are able to be imported into QGIS. You also need the tornado touchdown points from here as well. I'm not near my computer at the moment so either later today or tomorrow I can post a more comprehensive tutorial, but this is pretty much the essentials you need. Hi MarioProtIV! I noticed that you've made several edits in order to restore a version of Draft:Avengers: Secret Wars. The impulse to repeatedly undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure that you're aware of Wikipedia's edit warring policy. Repeatedly undoing the changes made by other users in a back-and-forth fashion like this is disallowed, even if you feel what you're doing is justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages in order to try to reach a consensus with the other editors involved. If you are unable to come to an agreement at Draft talk:Avengers: Secret Wars, please use one of the dispute resolution options that are available in order to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of repeatedly reverting other editors' changes can help you avoid getting drawn into edit wars. Thank you. adamstom97 (talk) 17:12, 23 August 2026 (UTC)

The Monthly Wiki-Weather Review - Issue 1 (September 1, 2026)
[edit]|
Volume I, Issue 1, September 1, 2026 The Monthly Wiki-Weather Review
This is the first edition for what will hopefully be a monthly newsletter involving Wikipedia's weather articles, including the severe weather and tropical cyclones projects. The newsletter aims to provide in summary the recent activities and developments of the WikiProject. If you wish to receive or discontinue your subscription to this newsletter, please visit the mailing list. Past editions can be viewed here. |
|
Development, Reminders, and Updates
Series of weather topics that need expansion The following articles are the earliest in a series of lists/articles, and including the gap going back to the previous entry in the series. These are articles that need to be written.
Of note, the yearly "Weather of YYYY" could be a useful parent article for every weather article. For a well-written (and well-sourced) example, see this timeline in the Weather of 2023 article. Image of the month Devastating floods, possibly caused by a glacial collapse, hit the ChinaโNepal border on August 26. These floods destroyed numerous settlements and killed over 1,000 people (with thousands still missing). The above image is a Landsat 9 view of debris flow from the floods.
The following articles were written/published this year. It excludes any of sub-articles within Weather of 2026.
Longtime editors and lurkers might have noticed an uptick in the number of article mergers this year. A discussion in December 2025 talked about articles for fish storms or were otherwise had minor impacts. As Hurricane Noah summarized, "if a storm isn't being discussed after the fact for meteorological notability and impacts were minor or nil, there shouldn't be an article. Since then, 8 featured articles and 76 good articles have been merged. In a recent AFD, Quxyz mentioned their own minimum threshold for a tropical cyclone article (1,000 words and 20,000 bytes).
There are a few ongoing projects that are needed in Wiki-Project weather, separate from any requested articles.
Comments or suggestions? This is the first of what will hopefully be a long-running newsletter. If you have any suggestions or complaints (such as them being in a different order in the section header), click on the previous links or try the newsletter talk page.

[edit]
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to File:Spider-Man actors.jpg.
- Edit warring is disruptive behavior โ regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not engage in edit warring โ even if you believe that you are right.
โ Trailblazer101๐ฅ (discuss ยท contribs) 02:15, 19 September 2026 (UTC)

The Monthly Wiki-Weather Review - Issue 2 (October 1, 2026)

Volume I, Issue 2, October 1, 2026 The Monthly Wiki-Weather Review Issue 2: Electric Boogaloo Edition

Since the last issue, the following became good articles
The following articles were written/published in the last month (or were missed). It excludes any of sub-articles within Weather of 2026.
Development, Reminders, and Updates
Image of the month - Hurricane Polo offshore Mexico Hurricane Polo became the second-strongest recorded Pacific hurricane on September 22, when Hurricane Hunters recorded a minimum central pressure of 892 mbar (26.3 inHg). Polo attained Category 5 status three times before weakening and striking northwestern Mexico twice. Tasks/projects from previous newsletter - Issue 1 had a section for the series of weather articles. This included seasons or weather events by year, such as from Weather of 1946 to 1985 and from 1985 to 2000. Other ongoing tasks include updating tropical cyclone track maps, button bar templates, and changing the coding for the season infobox template to allow for violent typhoons.
The 2026 edition of WikiConference North America was held in Edmonton, Canada, throughout the week of September 21, with at least one project member in attendance. Main topics included discussion of Wikimedia administration, WikiPortraits, and Wikimedia Commons. Interested editors are invited to read through this presentation, which was presented by User:Z1720 during the conference; it discusses how to write featured articles.
Although Wikipedia isn't specifically a weather encyclopedia, it fulfills that role to an extent. The "List of [weather events] by area" series is getting finished one by one, even if there are still a lot to go. The following areas are among the most complete:
Many areas could have a variety of lists. There's a draft for Tornadoes in Florida, which, if published, would join the above list. There is also a draft for Snow in Texas, which would also add Texas to the above list, assuming you counted the dab and quasi-article that is the List of Texas hurricanes (which you could help by adding climatology, the deadliest Texas tornadoes, and a list of (E)F5 tornadoes in the state). If you're interested in working on one of the potential location-based lists of weather impacts in an area, be bold and try it (maybe starting with a draft), or ask HH for help.
The previous newsletter mentioned the tropical cyclone merge-a-thon in which around 100 storm articles have been merged. There has also been an increase in proposed mergers of tornado-related articles to their parent tornado outbreak. Some of the main arguments have been about sustained lasting coverage (six months after the event), and whether the individual articles are a content fork from the outbreak article. There remains a need to codify tornado notability standards, with regards to outbreak and single tornado articles.
It's important to assume good faith and be open-minded/welcoming as we build a more perfect encyclopedia. HH admits he has pushed his own preferences a bit too much at times. Discussions need to remain civil. But the Paradox of Tolerance can lead to bad outcomes. For instance, there has been a rise in articles written by AI, which is not allowed. Now that Wikipedia is over 25 years old, it has its fair share of people who were blocked, including sockpuppets trying to disrupt the positive legacy we've all built. That does not mean to assume that all new users are either using AI or are sockpuppets! Most editors started just like you. Still, if it seems like users are baiting you to engage in discussion, that might be in bad faith. At those times, be sure to take a deep breath, and remember that there's no deadline. Sometimes, a troublesome user will out themselves and get blocked, whether due to AI-writing or other bad habits. "If it looks/swims/quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. If you have evidence someone is abusing more than one Wikipedia account, see Sockpuppet investigations. Random fun thing found during Wikipedia research While working on Hurricane Agnes, 12george1* found this legendary document from the NHC archives:
Don't be like this guy and make sure you're all careful editing! Comments or suggestions? This is the second edition of what will hopefully be a long-running newsletter. If you have any suggestions or complaints (such as them being in a different order in the section header), click on the previous links or try the newsletter talk page.

[edit]
You appear to be engaged in an edit war at 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. An edit war occurs when editors who disagree about the content of a page repeatedly revert each other's changes. Please do not revert or undo the edits made by other editors when your changes are reverted. Instead, use the talk page to discuss how the page can represent consensus among the editors involved. Here is some advice on how to do this. If discussions get stuck, you can request a third opinion, ask for help at a relevant noticeboard, or seek dispute resolution.
Edit warring can result in being blocked from editing, especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts within 24 hours on one page. Undoing any other editor's work, in whole or in part, involving the same or different material, is a revert. You can still be blocked for edit warring even if you do not violate the three-revert rule should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
There was a long, drawn-out discussion over what the opening sentence should say and WP:OSE is not an argument. Your only option is to open a new discussion about changing that consensus. Jasper Deng (talk) 00:15, 2 October 2026 (UTC)

Inclusion of Isaias and Simon
[edit]Hello MarioProtIV. I'd like to propose a middle ground on whether Isaias and Simon belong in this article, since I think both of our positions have weak points.
Snow as the sole criterion. I understand the concern, but the article already includes the late September nor'easter, which has no snow data (the "max snow" field is empty). So snow doesn't appear to be a requirement in practice, and a snow-only rule would also exclude other winter-type events such as wind storms or cold snaps.
Damage as the sole criterion. I'll concede that damage alone isn't enough either. Isaias and Simon already have coverage in the Atlantic and Pacific hurricane season articles, and including every damaging storm would dilute the scope of this article.
Proposed criteria. I suggest a system be included if it meets at least one of the following:
- It is a winter-type or extratropical storm (e.g. a nor'easter), regardless of snowfall.
- Its remnants interact with a winter weather system or produce wintry precipitation.
- Reliable sources explicitly tie it to that winter season's weather.
Application. Under these criteria, Isaias would only qualify if its remnants merge with a frontal system and produce wintry weather; so far, sources describe heavy rain, tornado threats and power outages. Simon had not yet affected the United States at the time of writing, so it cannot be assessed yet.
Compromise. Until then, I propose a brief mention (without a full section, infobox or image) pointing to the main storm articles, and revisiting it once the remnants' effects are documented. Would that work for you? If we can't agree, we could ask for input at WT:WPW.Markocortesa2 (talk) 20:23, 10 October 2026 (UTC)
- @Markocortesa2: Your criteria is pretty much how we have been following it for years (silently I guess), but Simon and Isaias do not meet that due to its nature. The May 2025 norโeaster you linked before had mountain snow associated with it which is why it was included. Isaias does not (nor does any forecast or modeling) and is representative of the hurricane season rather than the winter season, which is why I strongly believe it doesnโt belong . Fall/spring nor'easters are okay because they are winter-type lows and can occur before winter starts. Again Iโm fine with the remnants of Rachel being mentioned once it produces the mountainous snow in the Northwest since that looks to be associated with it once it gets there. - You brought up the need for older seasons to have "super" typhoons pre-1977, but you changed the template so "intense" reads "Very strong typhoons". Can you add "super" so it reads "super typhoons (JTWC)"? We can use that for older seasons, and potentially for new seasons (if we can add unofficially in parenthesis after it). Isaias pressure
[edit]I waited for the Isaias analysis to be fully dissipate to see if the NHC would revise the pressure figure from the earlier report. However, they retained the 959 mbar figure in the Tropical Cyclone Report (TCR), indicating that the 958 mbar reading was likely an error. Therefore, the intensity value listed in the TCR stands as the official figure. H-FinaL-FantasY-H - Talk 06:08, 13 October 2026 (UTC)
