I am nominating this for featured list because the article is fully sourced and contains everything needed in this list. The lead, although short, describes most of the article. I did all of the things stated in the last archive (as I remember). If the lead is too short, the history section also describes the tables well. In conclusion, it meets the criteria. 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter") 05:23, 26 August 2025 (UTC)reply
- Tables need column scopes for all column header cells, which in combination with row scopes lets screen reader software accurately determine and read out the headers for each cell of a data table. Column scopes can be added by adding
!scope=col
to each header cell, e.g.! Yearbecomes!scope=col | Year. If the cell spans multiple columns with a colspan, then use!scope=colgroup
instead. - Tables need row scopes on the "primary" column for each row, which in combination with column scopes lets screen reader software accurately determine and read out the headers for each cell of a data table. Row scopes can be added by adding
!scope=row
to each primary cell, e.g.| 1987becomes!scope=row | 1987(on its own line). If the cell spans multiple rows with a rowspan, then use!scope=rowgroup
instead. - Please see MOS:DTAB for example table code if this isn't clear.
- In addition to bolding a name (in "Multi-medalists") you'll also have to use a symbol. * The history section has a MOS:SANDWICH issue.
- You'll need to use the upright param for the images instead of a size (MOS:UPRIGHT).
- The flag in the infobox does not have alt text. (please
mention me on reply) -MPGuy2824 (talk) 07:22, 26 August 2025 (UTC)reply
- @MPGuy2824: Did the column scopes and row scopes for three of the tables. Is it correct?
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")09:11, 26 August 2025 (UTC)reply- Mostly yes, but with 2 issues:
- Please make the name as the header cell in every row, instead of the type of medal.
- The ref column's header also needs a "scope=col". -MPGuy2824 (talk) 05:14, 27 August 2025 (UTC)reply
- @MPGuy2824: done. Pinging.
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")07:57, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- Color should not be the only way to distinguish anything (like active competitor). Use a symbol along with the color.
- Row and column scopes are needed for every table, including in the "Medal tally by sport" and "Medal tally by individual" sections.
- Some of your tables have row scopes set for every cell in the table. The header cell of a row needs to be on its own line in the wikitext. I've fixed this for one table in the "Youth Summer Olympics". You can follow that for the other tables. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:12, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply
- Fixed.
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")09:08, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- @MPGuy2824: forgot to ping.
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")09:08, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- Fixed a few problems that you missed out on.
- The ref column's header also needs a "scope=col". This isn't yet done. Many of the tables have this issue.
- I'll support on accessibility in advance, since I trust you'll fix the above problem. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 08:11, 6 September 2025 (UTC)reply
- @MPGuy2824: forgot to ping.
- Fixed.
- Mostly yes, but with 2 issues:
- @MPGuy2824: Did the column scopes and row scopes for three of the tables. Is it correct?
- Do clarify in the first paragraph whether you've completed all the suggestions provided in the previous nomination of this list. -MPGuy2824 (talk) 09:00, 26 August 2025 (UTC)reply

[edit]MOS:SANDWICH does not bother me in this particular situation. In fact, it really can't be avoided. The image is vertical and the infobox is vertical, so it is not really a problem. Bgsu98 (Talk) 13:43, 26 August 2025 (UTC)reply
Comments
[edit]- "The Philippines made its debut in the Olympics during the 1924 Summer Olympics. The Philippines won its first medal during the 1928 Summer Olympics when Teófilo Yldefonso gained a bronze medal" => "The Philippines made its debut in the Olympics during the 1924 Summer Olympics and won its first medal during the 1928 Summer Olympics when Teófilo Yldefonso gained a bronze medal" (avoids having both of the first two sentences start with "The Philippines")
- "the Philippines gained three medals, the most medals given in a specific competition until 2020" - reword - this makes it sound like it was the most medals won by any nation until 2020
- "The Philippines gained its first gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics by Hidilyn Diaz" => "The Philippines gained its first gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics when Hidilyn Diaz won [whatever they won]"
- "Moreover, one athlete has gained a medal" => "Additionally, one athlete has gained a medal"
- "the commonwealth won" - this is an Easter egg link as I doubt many people in the rest of the world are aware that it is/was officially the Commonwealth of the Philippines
- "won its first medal when swimmer Teófilo Yldefonso" - link the name
- "the men's 200 metre breaststroke aquatic event" => "the men's 200 metre breaststroke swimming event"
- "After independence from the United States, the country did not win" => "After independence from the United States, the Philippines did not win"
- "the Philippines won another medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics when Hidilyn Diaz" - link Diaz's name
- "finished second at the women's 53 kg weightlifting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil" => "finished second in the women's 53 kg weightlifting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil"
- "won medals, specifically Aira Villegas, with a" - there seems to be a random line break (at least on my screen) after "specifically"
- Some of the rowscopes are missing in the Medal tally by individual and Multiple medalists tables
- That's what I got! -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 16:21, 4 September 2025 (UTC)reply
- Fixed everything except the Multiple medalists rowscopes; should I double bold them or not? The "active competitors" thing seems pretty useful.
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")07:44, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- Ah, I only just noticed the bit below the table. Use a symbol to represent the ones who are active. I am pretty sure we are not meant to use bold to indicate something anyway, as screen readers used by people with vision problems don't read out the "boldness" of the words -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 07:53, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply
- Did something using the {{legend}} template; does it seem okay?
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")08:06, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply - @ChrisTheDude: forgot to ping.
🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")08:10, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- Colour by itself also can't be used to designate something per MOS:ACCESSIBILITY (
Color should not be used as the sole visual means of conveying information, or for distinguishing elements such as links, templates, or table rows. Always provide an alternative method—such as an accessible symbol and/or text (for example, ✔ Approved), a colored table with an icon and text (for example, see table on the right), or clearly written footnote labels.
). You need to add a symbol as well as/instead of the colour -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:19, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- @ChrisTheDude: Should I use
this symbol? 🍗TheNuggeteer🍗 (My "blotter")08:28, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply- Note sure that that is an accessible symbol. I tend to use {{doubledagger}}..... -- ChrisTheDude (talk) 08:30, 5 September 2025 (UTC)reply
- Used the symbol.

MrLinkinPark333 (verification check)
[edit]I've found a lot of verification issues. As they are a lot, I will sort them.
Prose
[edit]- "The Philippines made its Olympic debut during the 1924 Summer Olympics" - fails verification of Citius, Altius, Fortius and GamesBid.
- "the commonwealth won its first medal" - Neither Sports Reference or International Swimming Hall of Fame mention that the Philippines was a commonwealth during 1928.
- "the country was awarded three bronze medals, the most for the Filipinos until the 2020 Summer Olympics." - Fails verification for 2 reasons. BBC Sport does not mention the 1932 Olympic medals for the Philippines. This source also does not have their 2020 medals because it was written before the Olympics started.
- "After independence from the United States, the Philippines did not win another medal until the 1964 Summer Olympics" - citation needed as Olympedia does not mention the Philippines independence nor their medal drought.
- "and his brother Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco - "Philippines at the 1996 Summer Olympics Olympedia source doesn't state that the Velascos are brothers.
- Petecio's Olympedia citation needs to be moved and go after "women's featherweight boxing finals".
- Paalam's Olympedia citation needs to be moved and go after "men's flyweight boxing finals".
- Last part of the History section "Aira Villegas ... semi-finals" needs the extra space removed. Currently, the "In the 2024 Summer Olympics" sentence looks uncited, even though it has a citation.
- "These Olympians are entitled to government incentives under Republic Act 9064 and Republic Act 10699." - citation needed.
- "This excludes the Wushu Tournament Beijing 2008, which was not an official Olympic demonstration sport for the 2008 edition." - citation needed
Tables
[edit]- Three tables fail verification of the medallists' home regions. They are Medals gained from the Summer Olympics, Medals gained from the Youth Summer Olympics and Medals gained from Mixed teams.
- There is failed verification from Olympedia in the Medal tally by sport, Medal tally by individual and Multiple medalists tables. This is because Olympedia's IOC sponsorship ended in 2023. Therefore, they don't have any coverage from 2024.
- Panay News does not specify that Tio won the IKA Twin Tip Racing event, as part of the men's kiteboarding.
- Is the years supposed to be the timelines that each athlete competed, or when they won their medals? This is confusing as, for example, Yulo won both of his medals in 2024. In the table, his years are listed as 2020-2024.
Minor issues
[edit]- In the prose, I see issues of sources not giving the same exact weight classes and Olympic cities.
- Prose also has issues of sources not specifying that the bronze medal matches for boxing (2020 and 2024) occurred in the semi-finals.
- Tables also have issue of sources not given exact swimming length and boxing weight classes.
- For 2024 boxing in the Medals gained from the Summer Olympics table, IOC does not state classes. They instead use the weights.
Oppose I am very concerned about the uncited and failed verification I found in the prose. I am also concerned about the failed verification of the home regions in the three tables. There are also minor issues, such as weight classes and Olympic cities not being specified in the source. Therefore, I will have to oppose because of the major failed verification issues. --MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 20:18, 7 September 2025 (UTC)reply
