Colombia's recognition of the Golan Heights as part of Israel
[edit]As I'm sure we all know by now, Colombia has recently become the third country (after Israel itself, and the United States) to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. My question is, which articles do we feel need to be updated to reflect this new reality?
I believe the articles for towns and villages in the Golan that say "The international community considers Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights illegal under international law, but the Israeli government disputes this" (here's one example) should be updated, because that phraseology gives the impression that every country in the world except for Israel still considers Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights illegal, however that is not the case anymore due to America's and Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan. I therefore suggest that the phraseology be changed to "Most of the international community considers Israeli settlements in the Golan Heights illegal under international law, but the governments of Israel, the United States, and Colombia dispute this." That sentence would, of course, include links to articles about most countries' views, as well as to news articles about the American and Colombian announcements.
Does anyone have other suggestions for how to update the above sentence? What other pages do we as a community feel should be updated to reflect this news? ProudNewEnglander (talk) 13:45, 12 August 2026 (UTC)
- @ProudNewEnglander:, the Golan Heights itself and Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights are the first that come to mind. Alaexis¿question? 09:35, 13 September 2026 (UTC)
- Hi Alaexis, thanks for the response! I actually brought this up on the Golan Heights talk page almost a month ago, and got some good suggestions for how to improve that statement. However, I then went on a week-long vacation, and haven't yet followed up about how to decide between those suggestions.
- Since you're a longtime, experienced editor, how do you propose we decide which suggestion to go by? I had considered offering a sort of ranked-choice system whereby all the editors involved would rank each option from most preferred to least preferred. However, I'm not sure if that's an acceptable procedure. Since there are at least four options, I'm not sure what the best method is to find consensus. And also, how do you suggest we deal with any editors who might try to disrupt the discussion without providing any suggestions of their own to fix the issue?
- Thanks! ProudNewEnglander (talk) 23:31, 13 September 2026 (UTC)
The WikiProject Israel page is not a place for a discussion about this. You are inviting only one side by creating a discussion about this here. Also Colombia hasn't mentioned settlements at all. And even if they did, its undue weight to ad Colombias pov into all the separate settlement articles. It should be in the main Golan Heights and Israeli occupation of the Golan Heights articles. --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 22:17, 13 September 2026 (UTC)

Pending change review for Paul Delaney
[edit]Hi, I recently updated the page for Paul Delaney (basketball) to reflect his Israeli citizenship with a reliable source from Sport5, but the edit is currently pending. Could an experienced editor please review and accept the change? Thank you! ~2026-49226-72 (talk) 10:29, 11 September 2026 (UTC)

Hi, just to let you know that I'm running The Asia-Oceania Destubathon in November in support of Wikipedia:Asian Month. £2000 (about US$ 2,689.54) in prizes. It would be great to see a lot of your editors participating as it's a good opportunity to see a lot of content improved for Israel with prizes. Sign up if interested anyway, thanks. ♦ Dr. Blofeld 12:35, 17 September 2026 (UTC)

Disclosed COI edit request at Talk:SolarEdge — needs a second look
[edit]Following up on a disclosed COI request open at Talk:SolarEdge#Disclosed COI request: expand the opening paragraph since 23 August. One editor raised a question about product-heaviness in the lead, I addressed it, and the thread's been quiet for a few weeks since. Would welcome a second opinion whenever someone has time. Nomination of Smit Machchhar for deletion
[edit]The article is being discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Smit Machchhar until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may still edit the article, including to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the AfD notice from the article until the discussion is closed.
The article Gross, Kleinhendler, Hodak, Halevy, Greenberg & Co. has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Tagged as unreferenced and for other concerns. Unsourced for 20 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. We are not a directory of law firms. Fails my standards for attorneys and law firms.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.
If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 15:27, 8 October 2026 (UTC)
Request for feedback on Draft:Sun Bay (2025 documentary film)
[edit]Hello,
I would appreciate feedback on Draft:Sun Bay (2025 film), a draft article about a 2025 Israeli documentary film directed by Ido Weisman.
The film has received several awards in Israel and internationally, including the Grand Prize for Best Documentary Feature at the 2026 Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival.
I would particularly appreciate feedback on whether the available independent sources and festival awards establish notability under Wikipedia's guidelines for films.
Thank you! קואורדינטה84 (talk) 15:22, 11 October 2026 (UTC)
Created new article, on Yaniv Hayun
[edit]Created new article, on Yaniv Hayun. The individual civilian who went to the cockpit in a recent airline attempted hijacking, and both removed the assailant who was attacking the captain, and then, with no formal training, pulled up the plane's descent. COI edit request at Talk:Russian language in Israel
[edit]Hello. I have a conflict of interest (I own two of the websites concerned), so I posted an edit request rather than editing: Talk:Russian language in Israel#Edit request: Russian-language Israeli websites. It proposes two sentences for the Media section about Russian-language Israeli websites, with two independent sources (Ynet 2006; Protassova and Yelenevskaya 2024). The COI queue is long, so if anyone from this project has a moment to review it, I would be grateful. The wording is entirely up to you. Yurkinx (talk) 15:03, 15 October 2026 (UTC)
