⚡ Millisecond response times matter in the age of AI. AI data centers can create sharp, sudden swings in power demand, putting increasing pressure on the grid as facilities scale toward the gigawatt level. Roman Loosen, our SVP & Chief Supply Chain and Manufacturing Officer, explains how battery energy storage can help: by responding rapidly, shaving peaks, and balancing data center loads before sudden surges affect the grid. The infrastructure behind AI has to move as fast as the workloads it supports. 🔗 Watch the clip, then catch the full video to hear Roman break down the challenge and the role storage can play: https://lnkd.in/gt6YwHRv

⚡🔋 One of Germany’s largest battery energy storage projects is taking shape at the site of the former Brunsbüttel nuclear power plant. Vattenfall has selected Fluence to deliver and provide long-term service support for a 254 MW / more than 1 GWh battery storage facility. Once operational, the four-hour system will: 🛡️ Help strengthen grid resilience 🌱 Support the integration of renewable energy 🔄 Provide flexibility as Germany’s power system continues to evolve Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with operations planned by the end of 2028. We will deliver the project on a turnkey basis using our Gridstack™ Pro 5000 system, with a scope encompassing engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and lifecycle services. This is our eighth project with Vattenfall across three European countries, building on a long-standing collaboration and marking another important step in scaling energy storage as critical infrastructure for Germany’s energy transition. Meeting the power demands of AI data centers will require more than any one technology or organization. Our SVP and Chief Growth Officer, Jeff Monday, shares why collaboration and integrated thinking will be critical to developing the next generation of data center power architecture. That means looking beyond energy storage as backup. With the right controls and system-level intelligence, storage can support resilience, respond to fast-changing power demands, and help data centers contribute more actively to the grid. Hear more from Jeff in the video, then explore how a Day 1 energy strategy can create greater flexibility over a data center’s first five years and beyond: https://lnkd.in/g7SqHd-9 #energystorage #datacenters

“Energy storage has come a long way in Europe, and we’re not even near the peak.” Last week, the Energy Storage Europe Conference in Brussels brought the industry together to discuss the policy, market, and technology developments shaping its future. Three of our experts took the stage to contribute their perspectives: 🔋 Energy storage has become critical infrastructure in Europe: Julian Jansen, our Managing Director for Germany and Vice President of the Energy Storage Europe Association, reflected on 15 years of progress and the opportunities ahead. His key message: energy storage has moved from an emerging technology to critical infrastructure, and the association’s policy and advocacy work must reflect that shift. 🤖 AI can enable stronger performance guarantees for energy storage: Sharon Mustri, our Senior Manager of Offer Innovation, explored how AI, automation, and predictive dispatch can change the way storage assets are operated and optimized. The opportunity goes beyond digital controls: it combines smarter hardware, edge-enabled controls, and, most importantly, commercial guarantees for advanced system performance. ⚡ Grid congestion management can unlock more value from storage: Lars Stephan, our Director of Marketing, Policy, and Public Affairs for EMEA, shared our European policy perspective on storage’s role in relieving grid congestion. Storage can help address congestion and create a new revenue stream, but enabling that opportunity requires well-designed regulation. Many thanks to Energy Storage Europe for an inspiring conference and for advancing the conversation about Europe’s energy storage future. #energystorage #batteries

💡 Many conversations about data center power start with upfront cost. The better question is what those decisions cost over the life of the asset. A new report from S&P Global Energy, commissioned by our team, examines how data center developers can address some of the industry's most pressing challenges, including grid constraints, speed-to-power requirements, and increasingly dynamic AI workloads. Across the backup power, flexible capacity, and load smoothing use cases evaluated, the analysis found that battery energy storage outperformed alternative technologies on a lifecycle cost basis while also providing flexibility, rapid deployment, and reduced exposure to fuel, emissions, and permitting risks. For developers and investors navigating growing power demands, the report offers a broader framework for evaluating energy infrastructure beyond initial CapEx. For data centers, energy strategy can’t be an afterthought. Waiting too long can mean permitting hurdles, regulatory delays, and, ultimately, a slower path to power—with real business consequences. TJ Winter, our Vice President of Emerging Segments & Intelligence, explains why developers need to start thinking about power from the earliest stages of planning and why grid-connected strategies paired with energy storage could play a critical role in bringing more data centers online. 🔗 Watch the clip, then catch the full conversation to hear TJ break down how data centers can meet their power needs while becoming good grid citizens: https://lnkd.in/giwxdB2K

🚛⚡ 1,300+ kilometres, 195 tonnes of critical energy infrastructure, zero incidents. We’ve reached a pivotal delivery milestone at AMPYR Australia's Bulabul Battery with the safe delivery of the main Siemens power transformer. Landing at the Port of Adelaide in South Australia, the massive 195-tonne transformer completed an intensive four-day journey across to New South Wales, travelling with a 71-metre-long heavy-haul convoy and special police escorts. The arrival marks an exciting turning point for the project as the road to energisation begins with major high-voltage electrical installation, testing, and commissioning now underway. A huge thank you to all of our partners and Fluence teams for supporting with extensive planning, specialist logistics and regulatory approvals to ensure a safe delivery! 👏
