Some companies are just places to work. Others are places you genuinely dream of being part of. For me, Opera is one of them. ❤️ Hi, LinkedIn! My name is Andrii. I’m an ICT student in Finland, an independent builder, and someone who genuinely loves technology, problem-solving, and turning ideas into real products. I want to share something personal. Working at Opera is one of my biggest career dreams. I’ve admired Opera for its place in the internet world, its products, its willingness to experiment, and its work at the intersection of browsers and AI. What excites me most about technology is not simply writing code or using the latest tools. It’s the possibility of building something that people actually use, something that solves a real problem and makes their lives a little easier. That’s exactly what I’m trying to do with my own project: LetterHelp.eu. I built LetterHelp to help people navigate official documents and bureaucracy with the assistance of AI. The idea is simple: dealing with important letters shouldn’t be unnecessarily confusing or stressful. Working on this project has given me an opportunity to think beyond code. I’ve had to consider the user experience, product functionality, AI integration, and how to turn an idea into a service people can actually use. I’m still learning. I know I have a lot more to discover, and that’s precisely what motivates me. I want to work alongside experienced people, learn how great products are built, contribute my own ideas, and become a stronger developer. And this brings me back to Opera. I would genuinely love the opportunity to become part of your team. Whether it’s an internship, a trainee opportunity, or an entry-level position that matches my current skills, I’d be incredibly grateful for the chance to prove myself. I’m not expecting to know everything on day one. I’m looking for an opportunity to learn, contribute, take responsibility, and grow. I’m especially interested in opportunities related to software development, AI, product development, or IT. I’m open to learning where my skills could be most useful. If joining Opera isn’t possible right now, I’d still appreciate the opportunity to learn from someone on the team, receive advice, or understand what I should work on to become a stronger candidate in the future. I’m sharing this because I believe it’s worth being honest about what you want to achieve. My goal isn’t simply to get a job. It’s to become someone who can build meaningful technology — and Opera is a company where I’d love to take that next step. If you work at Opera, know someone on the team, or have advice for someone trying to start a career in tech, I’d genuinely appreciate hearing from you. And if someone from Opera happens to read this: I’d love to talk. Thank you for reading. ❤️ Opera Hildur Davidsdottir Magnus Krag Wilma Lindbäck #Opera #SoftwareDevelopment #AI #Internship #TechCareers #OpenToWork

The Best Ideas Start With a Little Doubt. What do Michael Jordan's sneakers, Polish hip-hop and endurance sports have in common? For Mateusz Gniewek, Opera's Principal Product Designer, each has played a part in shaping his perspective on work and life. His fascination with the emotional power of brands began in childhood and eventually led him into product design. Along the way, he's learned to balance creative ambition with practical constraints, question his own ideas and appreciate different perspectives. Beyond design, Mateusz shares how his own search for a mentor inspired him to support others, what fatherhood and endurance sports have taught him about patience and humility, and why a simple line from a Polish hip-hop song has stayed with him throughout his career. What makes a global partnership last beyond the contract? For Alessio Oliva, Opera’s Strategic Partnership & Distribution Director, the answer starts with trust, understanding what drives the people on the other side of the table, and creating value that works for both partners and users. From door-to-door sales in Ireland to leading global distribution partnerships at Opera, Alessio’s career has taken him across countries, cultures, and very different working environments. In his story, Alessio shares how those experiences shaped the way he approaches partnerships and leadership today and why, as AI changes how products are discovered and experienced, the human side of partnership remains just as important. Connecting to public Wi-FI? We’ve got your back. For 10 years, Opera has offered a free VPN built directly into the browser. Now it’s even easier to use. Opera’s free VPN for desktop can now automatically turn on when you connect to an unprotected network, giving you more privacy from the moment you start browsing. To set it up, simply go to Settings > VPN > and toggle on “Always use VPN on Public WiFi”. This feature is rolling out initially in France and the US, with more regions to follow. The design-to-build process at Opera looks fundamentally different than it did a year ago. Our Head of Product Advocacy, Gary Fogarty, spoke to four lead designers across our mobile business unit to find out what's actually different, and what hasn't changed at all.
A year ago, Opera's mobile design loop looked like this: Idea ──► Figma ──► Hand off ──► Wait for build ──► Feedback. Today, it looks completely different. Testing happens before engineering touches a line of code, and what gets handed off isn't a static spec anymore — it's working code. I asked four lead designers across Opera Mini, Opera for Android, Opera for iOS, and Opera News how AI tools are driving this shift, and how it all comes back to one thing: building better experiences for the people using them.
