This past week, we were pleased to partner with ULI Washington and the National League of Cities (NLC) in Washington, DC, for an engaging UrbanPlan Lightning Round. Through the interactive exercise led by ULI Washington volunteer and instructor Bianca Cole, NLC staff stepped into the role of UrbanPlan development teams, balancing community priorities, financial realities, and stakeholder perspectives while working together to make decisions that shape the future of our cities. Thank you to everyone who brought thoughtful perspectives and contributed to meaningful discussions throughout the experience. We look forward to continuing the conversation with leaders working to shape the future of communities across the US. Join us for the ULI Fall Meeting Closing General Session as we explore the human experience behind the places we create and the future we hope to shape. Candy Chang, artist, designer, urban planner, and creator of the globally recognized 'Before I Die' project, will join us in Miami as the Closing Keynote speaker. Her work explores how places can foster reflection, connection, and a deeper understanding of what matters to us. She’ll challenge us to think about the human experiences and emotions that shape our cities. Following her keynote, Chang will be joined by Aileen Fuchs, President and Executive Director of the National Building Museum, and Toni L. Griffin, Founder of UrbanAC and recipient of the 2026 ULI Prize for Visionaries in Urban Development. Together, they’ll explore the emotional layer of cities, the identity of real estate development, and how we can meet this moment of urban transformation. Throughout the Meeting, the National Building Museum is partnering with ULI on an interactive experience inviting participants to reflect on ULI’s past, present, and future. The stories will be curated and shared on the mainstage, capturing a defining moment in ULI’s 90th anniversary. Be part of the conversation in Miami as we reflect on the places we create and what comes next. Register today: fall.uli.org #ulifallmeeting
