Strengthening what already exists - Indigenous and community-led data for #KMGBF🌐 The Global Report on the Implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity framework highlights key gaps in information on: 🌿Indigenous and Traditional Territories (ITTs) 🌿ICCAs - territories of life 🌿Customary governance systems 🌿Conservation contributions of Indigenous Peoples and local communities These territories and governance systems are increasingly recognized as critical to achieving global biodiversity goals, yet they remain underrepresented in national and global reporting. Platforms such as UNEP-WCMC’s ICCA Registry, LandMark, and Indigenous Navigator, already exist and have evolved through years of collaboration, consent processes and trust-building with Indigenous Peoples and local communities. As Parties advance implementation of the KMGBF, how can such platforms contribute to national reporting, global assessments and future reviews of progress, while respecting rights, governance systems, free, prior and informed consent, and data sovereignty? Join experts at a #COP17Armenia side event and explore opportunities to strengthen and better utilize these platforms. 22 October | 18:15 | Bijni - Indigenous peoples and Local Communities Group meeting room 💡For more info: https://bit.ly/4dO4Jkc 🔍See our full list of events and where to find our delegates: https://bit.ly/4hOE35f ICCA Consortium | International Indigenous Forum on Biodiversity (IIFB) | Forest Peoples Programme | IUCN | UNEP-WCMC | IUCN CEESP | IUCN World Commission on Protected Areas (WCPA) | ILC | World Resources Institute | The Indigenous Navigator #CBDCOP17 #BiodiversityAction #ForNature
