Samuel Diminas Keynote at African Energy Week

Samuel Diminas, CEO of Westpaq International, gave the keynote address at the close of the Upstream E&P Forum on the final day of African Energy Week (AEW) 2026. Government and industry leaders discussed where Africa’s next barrels will come from and what it will take to get them to market.

Closing the Upstream E&P Forum at Africa Energy Week 2026, Samuel Diminas, CEO of Westpaq International, stated that we cannot view deepwater production in Africa through the legacy lens of extraction for revenue alone. We must focus on energy security: powering African industries, strengthening national grids, enabling gas-to-power and petrochemical value chains that support agriculture, and building regional trade systems resilient to external macroeconomic and geopolitical shocks.
