If sales and marketing are arguing over what "qualified" means, your pipeline’s already in trouble. We’ve all seen it: - Marketing hits their MQL numbers, pats on the back all around. - Sales gets the “qualified” leads… and half of them are tire-kickers with zero urgency. Now the pipeline’s stuffed, win rates are tanking, and everyone’s pointing fingers. Here’s the real issue: Most of these leads aren’t bad. They’ve got pain points. They’re even “qualified” on paper. But they lack urgency…and sales is left trying to manufacture it out of thin air. You can’t build a healthy pipeline on hope and hypotheticals. Here’s how to fix it: 1) Pre-pipeline holding zones Not every lead deserves pipeline status. Create a pre-pipeline stage for deals with latent pain but no clear timeline. Sales can nurture them without clogging up forecasts. Bonus: Your QBRs will stop looking like a graveyard of stalled deals. 🕺 2) Urgency-based lead scoring Stop relying on surface-level qualifications. Score leads on intent and timeline, not just “right company, right title.” - Active Need: They’re shopping now. - Latent Need: Pain exists, but no immediate plan to fix it. 3) Sales-led nurture playbooks Give AEs tools to move latent pain into active need…without wasting cycles. Think cost-of-inaction decks, ROI calculators, and strategic drip touchpoints. 4) Align KPIs across teams Marketing’s job isn’t to stuff the pipeline - it’s to accelerate it. Sales shouldn’t be judged on bloated pipelines either. Align KPIs around pipeline velocity and win rates, not just volume. A bloated pipeline isn’t a sign of success. It’s a symptom of a broken process. Fix the gaps, align teams, and turn “qualified” into closeable.

We’ve audited hundreds of inbound marketing engines and seen billions of dollars lost due to a mindnumbingly simple problem: Lead Management Process - Poorly defined and/or - Poorly executed It’s hard enough to generate good leads. - It’s hard work - It’s very expensive - It’s nuanced and difficult And yet, even when it works - Leads are lost - Due to slow response - Due to poor follow up - Poor qualification/routing We have two big problems here: 1. Leads WANT to talk to sales - And don’t hear back in time - So they buy from a competitor 2. Leads DONT WANT to talk to sales - And are annoyed by SDRs - Following up too many times - When they’re not close to ready - Often not even fit for ICP/Personas - With ineffective outreach/messaging - Wasting tens of millions on sales costs This is a massive GTM Inefficiency And there’s a simple fix for it. To save/win tens of millions. 𝟵 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 1. Separate Hand Raisers - They need rapid response - Other leads don’t need this - Each type has a different process 2. Map the Lead Management Process - Step by step 3. Define Lead Qualification and Routing Rules - How and when are leads qualified? - How and when are they routed to reps? 4. Implement Lead Scoring to Prioritize Follow-Up - Lead scoring takes time - Start simple and then optimize it 5. Build the Follow-Up Cadence - Plan follow up well - Then measure and improve it 6. Leverage Automation for Immediate Response - Automated emails - Access to book meetings - Make it easy on the buyer 7. Set SLAs Between Marketing and Sales - What do we expect of reps? 8. Monitor Execution in the CRM - How do we hold reps accountable? - To meet the SLAs mentioned above? 9. Optimize the Funnel with Real Data - Leverage data to optimize - What’s being executed and not? - What’s working and not working? - What types of leads convert the most? - What types of follow up and messaging? - What do we cut/increase/optimize to improve? This isn’t theory. We’ve rolled this out across dozens of teams. It works. Leads stop slipping through the cracks. Reps follow up faster. Pipeline goes up—without spending more on demand gen. But most companies never do this. They obsess over generating more leads. Then waste the ones they already have. 🤔 More on this in tomorrow’s 📰 𝙍𝙚𝙫𝙊𝙥𝙨 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠𝙡𝙮 📰 Subscribe to get it here: https://bit.ly/49RCm0h ✌️

"Stop sending follow-up emails" That's what I told a struggling VP of Sales last month His team was sending 8,000+ emails weekly Converting almost none of them He thought I was insane Until we implemented a "no follow-up" policy and their pipeline exploded → Here's what most sales leaders miss: Your prospects aren't ignoring you because you haven't followed up enough They're ignoring you because you haven't said anything worth responding to After auditing 50+ B2B sales processes, I've found the same pattern: - 8+ follow-up emails to the same prospect - Each one more desperate than the last - Generic templates with fake personalization - Zero actual value added All while sales managers chant "persistence pays off!" The brutal truth? It doesn't One client was sending 14-touch sequences to every lead Their final response rate? A pathetic 0.7% We completely redesigned their approach: - Cut all automated follow-ups - Created industry-specific research for each target account - Developed 3 unique insights for every prospect - Built a "no pitch" first conversation model The results : - Response rate jumped to 20% - Meetings-to-opportunity conversion: Up 200% - Sales cycle: Reduced from 107 days to 70 - Team morale: Transformed overnight The most expensive myth in modern sales is that quantity of touches matters more than quality of insight Your prospects don't need another "just checking in" email They need someone who fundamentally understands their business challenges What if you deleted all your follow-up templates today and replaced them with actual business insights? That's not just a sales strategy That's a competitive advantage P.S. If you need help with your sales, send me a message

They had the tools. They had the team. They still flatlined. I just helped a client who had: ✅ An expensive tech stack ✅ A high-performing sales team ✅ And stagnant growth. 🚫 They weren’t short on tools. 🚫 They weren’t short on talent. 🚫 They weren’t even short on leads. 🚰 But their funnel? Full of holes. So we mapped it out, leak by leak. And what we found changed everything. By the time we plugged just 12 of the biggest issues, they tripled their qualified pipeline in under 90 days. 💡 12 revenue killing funnel leaks (+ how to fix them): 1. Unclear ICP → Use real behavioral & firmographic data, not assumptions 2. Generic Messaging → Align with lifecycle stages & actual pain points 3. Poor Lead Qualification → Implement BANT/MEDDIC frameworks 4. Sales-Marketing Misalignment → Create SLAs & defined handoff processes 5. Slow Follow-Up → Automate quick replies with personalized templates 6. Complex Lead Forms → Simplify & optimize for mobile conversion 7. Weak Lead Nurturing → Build targeted nurture tracks by segment 8. Missing Sales Enablement → Equip teams with case studies & ROI tools 9. Ignored Middle-Funnel → Deploy webinars & deep-dive content 10. Bad Data Hygiene → Clean CRM data & automate enrichment 11. Low Trust Signals → Strategically place social proof throughout 12. Poor Client Handoff → Start onboarding pre-sale 🔧 The fix doesn't need months or massive budgets. Just clarity, alignment, and execution. Making more calls won’t help you hit quota. This 4-step framework will (examples and templates included): Do it, and start booking quality meetings and building a real pipeline. 1. 𝗦𝗲𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗶𝗲𝗿 Not every prospect moves deals forward. Separate your leads into two levels: Above the Power Line (APL): Final decision-makers — VP of Sales, CMO, COO Below the Power Line (BPL): Key influencers — Sales Managers, SDR Team Leads Prioritize APLs in your outreach. But don’t ignore BPLs. They can provide insight, urgency, and internal momentum. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 1: A VP of Sales controls budget and signs off on tooling. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 2: A Sales Manager will use the tool daily and can flag issues that help shape your pitch. 2. 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗮𝘆-𝘁𝗼-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗺𝘀 Understand what each persona struggles with — and how it shows up in their world. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 1: Pain: Stalled pipeline Symptom: 40% of opportunities stuck in “discovery” stages for 30+ days 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 2: Pain: Low team engagement Symptom: Reps not logging calls, low CRM activity When you map these out per persona, your messaging becomes 10x more relevant. 3. 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗞𝗣𝗜𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 Every persona has metrics they live and die by. Know them. Tie your solution to them. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 1: If they care about revenue velocity, handoffs or slow lead response time delays are serious risks. 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 2: Poor prospecting becomes your entry point if they're judged on pipeline coverage. 4. 𝗧𝗮𝗶𝗹𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 Now you can structure a pitch that lands. Here’s the template I use: “Hey [Name], when I speak with other [role]s, they often mention [pain], usually showing up as [symptom]. That tends to hurt [KPI].” 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 1: “When I talk to VPs of Sales, they often mention forecast slippage, usually due to deals stalling mid-funnel. That’s a big risk to revenue confidence.” 𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 2: “Other SDR Managers have shared that rep burnout shows up as fewer calls and lower quality activity. That puts pipeline targets at risk.” I use Findymail to source accurate data and direct dials. Don’t waste time chasing wrong contacts. 𝗣𝗿𝗼 𝘁𝗶𝗽: Use the 1x4 Rule. 1 problem, 1 symptom, 1 KPI, 1 solution per message or call. Clear. Specific. No fluff. The more precise you get, the more your outbound resonates. Generic is forgettable. Precision is power. Make one change in your outbound motion this year.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐝𝐢𝐞. 🔍🤝 A client had great marketing… but sales kept saying: “These leads aren’t ready.” The mistake: no shared definition of a “qualified lead.” 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘅𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿: ✔️ Lead scoring rules (behavior + fit) ✔️ Auto-tagging (industry, budget, urgency) ✔️ Routing logic (only send qualified leads to sales) ✔️ Unqualified leads go into nurture (automated) 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁: fewer arguments, better focus, cleaner pipeline. 🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆: if marketing and sales aren’t aligned, you burn money quietly. 🔥 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: teams with automated qualification will scale faster than teams with meetings. 👉 Do you have lead scoring today or is it “gut feeling”? #AutomationGuy #ScaleThroughAutomation #LeadScoring #MarketingAutomation Follow me for AI & Automation updates and resources: https://lnkd.in/gjG8gvRd

Is It Really a Pipeline Issue? When quarterly targets are missed, the default explanation is often a "pipeline problem." The instinct is to fix the pipeline, expecting revenue to follow. Yet, many times the real problem lies deeper—often within sales processes, operations, or ineffective use of the existing pipeline. If marketing is consistently delivering enough leads, the focus should shift to what happens after those leads are generated. Consider these questions: - Are leads being routed efficiently, using clear logic? - Do sales and marketing share a consistent definition of a qualified lead? - Are leads prioritized to ensure the right reps get timely access? - Is real-time capacity optimized as new leads come in? Too often, organizations—even large ones—struggle with poorly designed processes and misalignment between teams. This not only reduces pipeline quality but also creates issues that are squarely within your control to address. Investing effort into process intelligence and ensuring optimal lead management can be transformative. Embrace AI-powered tools to make these systems smarter and to drive efficient revenue growth.

You’re showing up, putting in the work... but the sales? They’re inconsistent at best. Some months are great. Others? Crickets. If that sounds familiar, chances are you’re making one (or more) of these mistakes. The good news? They’re 100% fixable. 1️⃣ Selling to Everyone When you try to speak to everyone, no one truly listens. 👉 Fix: Get laser-focused on your Ideal Client Profile (ICP)—who they are, what they struggle with, and why they’d choose YOU over anyone else. 2️⃣ Confusing Messaging If your audience doesn’t instantly “get it,” they move on. 👉 Fix: Nail your Unique Value Proposition (UVP)—clearly communicate what makes you different and why it matters to them. 3️⃣ Overcomplicating the Sales Process Ever had a prospect seem interested… then disappear? A clunky, drawn-out process makes people drop off before saying “yes.” 👉 Fix: Simplify your customer journey—make it ridiculously easy for prospects to take the next step. 4️⃣ Chasing, Instead of Attracting Cold DMs. Constant pitching. Exhausting, right? And not very effective. 👉 Fix: Build a system that brings leads to YOU—position yourself as the expert, offer value, and create inbound demand. 5️⃣ No Follow-Up Strategy Most leads don’t buy right away. If you’re not following up, you leave money on the table. 👉 Fix: Implement a structured nurture process—automate touchpoints, stay top-of-mind, and turn “not now” into “let’s do this.” Want a repeatable sales system that works without the guesswork?

Most of you don’t have a lead problem, you’ve got a leak problem. You’re pouring more money into ads, thinking the hole will fill itself when really, you’re just losing faster. Scaling a broken system is like pouring water into a cracked pipe. The pressure only makes the leaks worse. Here’s how we approach it. We look at performance before we ever increase budget: → Landing page converting at 20–30% → Show-up rate sitting at 70%+ → Close rate around 20–30% Only then do we scale, because scaling isn’t about spending more. It’s about removing friction. Take a solar company, for example. They spend thousands driving traffic to a quote form that’s slow, clunky, and asks for 12 fields of information. By the time someone completes it, the buyer’s gone cold. Then the sales team takes three days to follow up. That’s not an ads problem. It’s a flow problem. Or look at a construction company. They get 50 project enquiries a month, but every one sits in someone’s inbox. No CRM, no tracking, no nurture. Site visits get delayed. Follow-ups are forgotten. They think they need more leads, when what they really need is a system that turns those leads into booked jobs. Every business has a different flow. For some, it’s the landing page. For others, it’s the follow-up. For most, it’s the gap between marketing and sales. We don’t just run ads. We build the system that scales them. A founder paid me ₹1.2L to audit his outreach. The problem took me 4 minutes to find. He was sending 80 emails a day. Getting 1–2 replies a week. I looked at his sequence. Email 1: Perfect. Clear, short, relevant. Email 2: 'Just following up on my last email.' Email 3: 'Bumping this to the top of your inbox.' Email 4: 'I know you're busy, but...' His follow-ups were destroying the credibility his first email built. Every follow-up should add new value. A new angle. A case study. A short insight. Not a nudge. Not a guilt trip. The follow-up isn't a reminder. It's a second chance to be interesting. How many of your follow-ups are actually adding value vs just bumping? #B2BSales #ColdEmail #SalesTips #LeadGeneration #GrowthMarketing
