Belgium's consumer price inflation accelerated further in September to the highest level in more than three years amid soaring energy costs. The consumer price index climbed 4.69 percent year-over-year in September, faster than the 3.97 percent rise in August. Inflation based on energy quickened to 24.4 percent from 16.5 percent, led by 33.9 percent surge in motor fuel costs.
Consumer price inflation in Iceland increased further in September to the highest level in just over two years. The consumer price index rose 5.9 percent year-on-year in September, following a 5.6 percent increase in August. Inflation based on transportation quickened to 11.9 percent from 9.9 percent, and the annual growth in health costs accelerated to 5.3 percent from 4.0 percent.
Turkey's economic confidence strengthened further in September to the highest level in more than three years. The economic sentiment index rose to 101.3 in September from 100.6 in August. Among components, morale for manufacturing rose somewhat to 102.5 from 102.4, and retail trade confidence improved to 111.3 from 110.1.
A measure signaling future turning points in the Swiss economy strengthened further in September to the highest level in five years. The barometer rose to 109.1 in September from a revised 106.7 in August. The indicator bundles for manufacturing and services, as well as for construction, show particularly positive developments in September, the survey said.

The producer price index climbed 10.9 percent year-over-year in August, faster than the 7.7 percent increase in July. The acceleration in inflation was mainly driven by 34.5 percent higher costs for energy.

The economic tendency index climbed to 107.1 in September from 105.1 in the previous month. The confidence among consumers rose to 102.2 in September, reaching the highest level since December 2021, from 98.4 in August.

Lithuania's retail sales growth moderated for the fourth successive month in August. Retail sales, excluding VAT, climbed a calendar-adjusted 3.7 percent year-on-year in August, slower than the 6.0 percent rise in July. The annual sales growth in non-food products softened to 9.2 percent from 11.8 percent, and sales of food items grew at a slower pace of 0.8 percent.
Norway's volume of retail rose a seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent month-on-month in August, reversing a 0.6 percent decrease in July. The rebound in August was mainly driven by 5.3 percent fewer sales in automotive fuel and a 1.9 percent rise in demand for cultural and recreational goods. Meanwhile, sales of ICT equipment contracted 3.7 percent.
Austria's manufacturing activity expanded at the strongest pace in more than four years in September, survey results from S&P Global showed Monday. The UniCredit Bank Austria manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 54.9 in September from 54.4 in the previous month. This was the highest score since May 2022.
