Cubs' Pete Crow-Armstrong: Swipes base in three-hit game
Crow-Armstrong went 3-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and two RBI in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.
Crow-Armstrong has yet to truly get going this year, but he does now have five hits across his last two games, and he's batting .345 over his last eight contests. The speedy outfielder is also up to five stolen bases, though he has already been caught three times. Crow-Armstrong swiped bags at an 81 percent success rate last season, and he figures to increase his 2026 percentage as the year goes along.

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Goes deep again Wednesday
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.
A day after launching his first home run of the year, Suzuki blasted off again in Wednesday's victory. The outfielder looks fully recovered from an early-season knee injury, and he's sporting a solid .846 OPS after consecutive good games. Suzuki should remain in the lineup most days for the Cubs, playing in right field or serving as the team's DH.

Cubs' Michael Busch: Launches first home run
Busch went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.
Busch has been off to a slow start to the season, as Wednesday's home run was his first of the year and he's only batting .188 with a .525 OPS. Busch's struggles combined with the strong play of Nico Hoerner has allowed the latter to take over as Chicago's primary leadoff hitter. Busch can still produce from lower in the lineup, but the first baseman will need to keep producing like he did Wednesday to avoid hitting the bench on a more regular basis, particularly against lefties.

Cubs' Alex Bregman: Tallies three hits in win
Bregman went 3-for-5 with a triple and a run scored in Wednesday's 7-2 win over the Phillies.
Bregman recorded his third three-hit game of the season and also tallied his first triple since 2024 in an effective performance Wednesday. The veteran third baseman is starting to get going after a slow start to his first campaign with the Cubs. Bregman was batting just .188 through his first 12 games of the year, but he's now batting .333 over his last 12 contests.

Cubs' Carson Kelly: Not in Wednesday's lineup
Kelly is not in the Cubs' starting lineup against the Phillies on Wednesday.
Kelly will sit for the second time in three days while Miguel Amaya serves behind home plate and bats eighth while catching pitches from the returning Matthew Boyd. Kelly has gone 15-for-46 (.326) with two home runs, seven RBI, nine runs scored and a 9:10 BB:K since April 1.

Cubs' Luke Little: Sent back to minors
The Cubs optioned Little to Triple-A Iowa on Wednesday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Little was with the big club for a week and made one appearance, allowing one run over one inning of work. He's clearing out to make space on the roster for Matthew Boyd (biceps), who is back from the injured list to start Wednesday's contest versus the Phillies.

Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Reinstated before Wednesday's start
The Cubs activated Boyd (biceps) from the 15-day injured list Wednesday, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports.
Boyd is set to rejoin the rotation with a start Wednesday against the Phillies after missing the past two-plus weeks with a left biceps strain. The left-hander threw 64 pitches and went 3.2 innings in his lone rehab outing last Thursday, so he might not be ready for a full workload in his first start back from the injured list.

Cubs' Shota Imanaga: Continues to roll Tuesday
Imanaga (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Phillies, allowing one run on three hits and one walk while striking out one over seven innings.
Imanaga turned in his third consecutive quality start Tuesday, limiting Philadelphia to just two hits over his first five innings before Kyle Schwarber's solo homer in the sixth accounted for the only damage. The left-hander continues to excel at run prevention, allowing just three runs across his last four starts (24 innings). Through five outings, he owns a 2.17 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 32:6 K:BB. Imanaga will face a much tougher challenge in his next scheduled outing against a loaded Dodgers lineup that leads MLB in most offensive categories, including a .293 team batting average.

Cubs' Caleb Thielbar: Called on again for save Tuesday
Thielbar retired the last two batters in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies to record the save.
The Cubs started the ninth with a 7-3 lead and deployed Jacob Webb, but he allowed two hits and only recorded one out. That's when Chicago turned to Thielbar to put out the fire with two runners on. The veteran lefty calmly got the job done on just six pitches, and he now has two saves and a win over the last three days. Thielbar is serving as the team's top option for saves with regular closer Daniel Palencia (oblique) on the injured list, and he's performed well in the role.

Cubs' Ian Happ: Tallies first stolen base
Happ went 1-for-4 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies.
Happ reached three times in the win and also mustered his first stolen base of the season in his first attempt. The veteran outfielder doesn't run like he used to, as he only had six steals during the 2025 regular season following 13 swipes in 2024 and 14 in 2023. Happ might not possess the same wheels he used to have, but he's still effective at getting on base, and he's delivered at least 20 home runs in each of the last three years as well. The 31-year-old has also played in at least 150 games for four straight seasons.

Cubs' Nico Hoerner: Tees off again Tuesday
Hoerner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies.
Hoerner continued his surprising power surge, as he now has four home runs this season through 23 contests, including three in his last six games. The 28-year-old had only seven long balls in each of the last two regular seasons, and he came into this year with just 36 career long balls across seven MLB campaigns. Hoerner is known mostly for his speed, but his power has been a pleasant bonus, and he's batting a scintillating .326 in the early going. The infielder's strong start has locked him into the leadoff spot for the Cubs.

Cubs' Seiya Suzuki: Hits first home run of 2026
Suzuki went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Phillies.
After a routine day off Monday following seven straight starts, Suzuki returned to the lineup Tuesday and launched his first home run of the season. The outfielder has only played in 11 games so far due to a knee issue that kept him on the injured list to begin the year, but he seems to be rounding into form. Suzuki blasted 32 home runs during the 2025 regular season and posted an .804 OPS, and he should continue to trend upward as he settles in at the plate.

Cubs' Porter Hodge: Opts for internal brace surgery
Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed Tuesday that Hodge (elbow) underwent UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Though Hodge didn't require a traditional Tommy John surgery to address the right elbow flexor strain he sustained in spring training, Counsell estimated that the 25-year-old will face an expected recovery timeline of 12-to-14 months. With that in mind, Hodge would seem likely to open the 2027 season on the Cubs' injured list, if Chicago elects to tender him a contract over the winter. Hodge showed plenty of promise in his 2024 rookie campaign with a 1.88 ERA and 0.88 WHIP in 43 innings, but he fell off badly in 2025 (6.27 ERA, 1.58 WHIP in 33 frames) and finished the season in the minors before going down with the elbow injury in the spring.

Cubs' Hunter Harvey: Resuming throwing program
Harvey (triceps) will restart his throwing program Friday, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Harvey has been on the 15-day injured list since April 12 due to triceps inflammation, but he hadn't pitched for a week prior to the transaction. With the right-hander restarting his throwing program Friday, it probably pushes his return past the end of April.

Cubs' Phil Maton: Faces live hitters
Maton (knee) threw a live batting practice session Tuesday and is mulling how to proceed, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Maton was placed on the 15-day injured list April 10 with right knee tendinitis. It appears the reliever has made progress, but a return timetable is still up in the air at this point.

Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Will start Wednesday
The Cubs will activate Boyd (biceps) from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
The move will likely be made official at some point Wednesday. Boyd was always tracking toward starting this week after he was shelved 15 days ago with a left biceps strain. After Boyd was roughed up in his Opening Day nod against the Nationals, allowing six runs over 3.2 innings, the left-hander bounced back with a win April 1 against the Angels. He has a 6.75 ERA, but Boyd's 1.85 FIP over 9.1 innings suggests he should have seen better results. Boyd struck out 17 and walked just three across his two starts.

Cubs' Daniel Palencia: MRI confirms lat strain
Manager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Palencia underwent an MRI that revealed a lat strain, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Palencia initially landed on the injured list Friday with a left oblique strain, but imaging has since confirmed that he's dealing with a lat issue. Counsell noted that the 26-year-old reliever is responding very well to treatment and could begin throwing by the time the Cubs begin their weekend series in Los Angeles. If his rehab continues to progress smoothly, he may be cleared to return to Chicago's bullpen in about two weeks.
