Tigers' Casey Mize: Punches out seven in second win
Mize (2-1) earned the win Wednesday against the Brewers, allowing one run on three hits and three walks in six innings. He struck out seven.
Mize was outstanding Wednesday, scattering three singles over six strong frames. Not only is the right-hander already up to three quality starts in 2026, but he's also worked at least 5.2 innings while giving up one run or zero in four of his five outings to begin the season. Mize is pushing his way into must-roster fantasy territory, producing an impressive 2.51 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 32:10 K:BB over 28.2 frames, but he does have a tough test in Atlanta on tap for his next start.

Tigers' Kenley Jansen: Secures save despite shaky outing
Jansen worked around a hit and two walks to pitch a scoreless inning of relief and secure the save in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Brewers. He struck out one.
Jansen was probably lucky to have a three-run lead, as he got some traffic on the bases in the ninth inning, but he ultimately shut things down for his sixth save of the year in seven chances. The veteran reliever has a sparkling 1.35 ERA and has struck out eight batters across 6.2 innings so far. Even at the age of 38, Jansen continues to look like an effective MLB closer, and the Tigers seem comfortable with him in that role moving forward.

Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Tees off in win
Carpenter went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Brewers.
Carpenter launched his fifth home run of the season in the eighth inning, and he's starting to heat up after a slow start to the year. The 28-year-old has three long balls across his last eight games, and he's batting .263 during the stretch. Carpenter was batting just .200 with two home runs in 14 games before the recent power surge. He hit a career-high 26 homers during the 2025 regular season, and the outfielder remains a great offensive threat against right-handed pitching.

Tigers' Spencer Torkelson: Hits first 2026 home run
Torkelson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Brewers.
Torkelson finally hit his first home run of the year in his 24th game, taking Chad Patrick deep in the fourth inning with a runner on. The slugger had 31 long balls during the 2025 regular season, so he'll need to really heat up to get back on last year's pace. It's been a struggle for Torkelson overall, as he's only batting .189 with a .603 OPS, but his ability to hit homers in bunches should keep his bat in the lineup as he works through the slow start.

Tigers' Bailey Horn: Transferred to 60-day IL
The Tigers transferred Horn (elbow) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Horn is coming back from offseason arthroscopic left elbow surgery and had to be pulled off his rehab assignment last week because of a setback. It's not clear where Horn's rehab currently stands, but the reliever now won't be eligible for activation until late May.

Tigers' Burch Smith: Contract selected
The Tigers selected Smith's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Smith was off to a terrific start with Toledo, yielding two runs with a 16:0 K:BB over 10 innings. The 36-year-old will give the Tigers a fresh bullpen arm and will be making his first major-league appearance since 2024 when/if he gets into a game.

Tigers' Enmanuel De Jesus: Optioned to Triple-A
The Tigers optioned De Jesus to Triple-A Toledo on Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
De Jesus was hammered for seven runs (five earned) while throwing 49 pitches over 1.1 innings during an ugly relief outing Tuesday versus the Brewers. He will be replaced on the roster and in the bullpen by Burch Smith.

Tigers' Keider Montero: Stuck with loss Tuesday
Montero (1-2) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings as the Tigers fell 12-4 to the Brewers. He struck out three.
Montero was lifted after 88 pitches (55 strikes), coming up just short of his second quality start in four trips to the mound since joining the Detroit rotation. The 25-year-old right-hander has delivered a strong 3.68 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 18:3 K:BB through 22 innings, and with Justin Verlander (hip) not being rushed back into action, Montero should keep his current role into May. He's set to make his next start on the road this weekend in Cincinnati.

Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Keeps on rolling Tuesday
McGonigle went 2-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Brewers.
Despite the lopsided loss, McGonigle continued to be a bright spot for the Tigers. The rookie infielder is now riding a six-game hitting streak, with the last three games all going down as multi-hit efforts. Overall, McGonigle is batting a robust .322 with a .904 OPS, and the prospect hype surrounding the 21-year-old has quickly translated into elite fantasy performance.

Tigers' Riley Greene: Reaches twice in rout
Greene went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Brewers.
Detroit didn't have much go right Tuesday, but Greene at least managed to continue his strong recent play. Over his last 10 games, the talented outfielder is batting .379 with a home run, eight RBI and eight runs scored, and he has at least one hit in six of those contests. After a bit of a slow start to the season, it seems like Greene is heating up, and his counting stats should begin trending upward as well if he can continue to make consistent contact at the plate.

Tigers' Enmanuel De Jesus: Hit hard Tuesday
De Jesus allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and two walks across 1.1 innings of relief in Tuesday's 12-4 loss to the Brewers.
De Jesus came on after 5.2 innings from starter Keider Montero and with Detroit trailing 3-1. The lefty reliever quickly let things unravel as he saw his ERA nearly double from 5.40 to an unsightly 10.13, and it would have been worse if not for the unearned runs. De Jesus has nine strikeouts across eight innings this year, which is encouraging, but he's otherwise been ineffective, and he doesn't currently have a ton of fantasy value in his role out of the Tigers' bullpen.

Tigers' Justin Verlander: Another bullpen on tap
Verlander (hip) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
Manager A.J. Hinch said last week that Verlander's recovery from hip inflammation was "going a little slower than anticipated," but the 42-year-old continues to throw bullpen sessions. Verlander hasn't suffered a setback to this point, but it doesn't appear he'll be rejoining Detroit's rotation in the immediate future.

Tigers' Zach McKinstry: Going through light activities
McKinstry (hip) has resumed light baseball activities, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.
McKinstry landed on the 10-day injured list last week with left hip/abdominal inflammation but has started to slowly ramp things back up at the Tigers' spring training complex in Florida. He has a good chance to return Sunday when first eligible.
