  • #Grantmaking in today’s climate is more complex than ever — are your strategies keeping up? At the PEAK Grantmaking Conference last week in St. Louis, Missouri the message was clear: "business as usual" won’t cut it anymore. From political volatility to the rapid rise of AI, the practical realities of moving money are shifting. Here are the three trends we’re watching most closely: 1️⃣ Risk as a Priority: #RiskManagement is no longer a back-office task. Between political exposure and the 272% growth in international giving, treating risk as a core competency is essential. 2️⃣ Responsible AI: 94% of foundations want to scale #AI, but most lack a roadmap. The winners will be those who invest in governance and human judgment first. 3️⃣ A Due Diligence Reset: It’s time to move past "checkbox" compliance. Smarter, proportional due diligence creates space for honest conversations about nonprofit financial health. The "hard parts" of grantmaking don’t have easy answers, but they are much more manageable when we solve them together. A snapshot of an incredible few days of connection and conversation at our Partners in Purpose events in #NewYork and #Detroit! 📸 ⬇️ In New York, we hosted an intimate roundtable and Visit.org volunteer experience featuring valuable engagement insights from Alice Ping from Shiseido. The momentum continued in Detroit with strategic sessions held in collaboration with Brian Fisher from AF - Group. Across both cities, the focus remained on driving collaborative leadership to move the industry forward. These sessions reinforced the significant value of in-person collaboration within the #CSR and #SocialImpact sectors. By sharing perspectives and prioritizing real-time collective problem solving, we do more than grow individual programs—we strengthen the entire social impact landscape. #CSR #PartnersInPurpose #CorporateResponsibility

  • Making an impact isn't just what we do—it’s who we are. 💙 The past few months at Benevity have been a whirlwind of community connections. From winter clothing drives to rocking out for a cause, here are a few highlights from our recent volunteer initiatives: ➡️ SleepOut Vancouver: Benevity-ites spent a night outside to support Covenant House Vancouver, raising over $6k CAD to help youth experiencing homelessness. ➡️ Ramadan Kickoff: Our Salam @ Benevity community group celebrated the start of Ramadan by assembling hygiene kits for Alpha House Society. ➡️ Donate & Skate: Toronto Benevity-ites participated in a winter clothing drive in partnership with Scott Mission followed by a classic Canadian finish: hitting the rink for a team skate. ➡️ Calgary Food Bank: Our Professional Services crew rolled up their sleeves for an evening of bagging fresh food for local families. ➡️ #HomeComing2026 Impact Nights: From the high energy of Drag for a Cause (supporting Stonewall Recovery Centre), the pure joy of Puppy Snuggles (supporting Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) of Alberta), to our Black Employee Network & Friends celebrating local artists and launching a Legacy Library of books, more than 700 Benevity-ites showed up in force for an evening of community impact. ➡️ Rockstars: Last but not least, our signature Rock The Cause-bah event featuring Benevity-ite bands and DJs raised more than $35,000 in a single night for the causes they hold closest to their hearts. Huge thank you to everyone who showed up, donated, and leaned in! #WeAreWe #PurposeAtWork #IVY2026

How can we have a volunteering boom and a volunteering crisis simultaneously? Corporate interest in volunteering is surging, yet this enthusiasm isn't always translating into the strategic support nonprofits need. At #EFG2026, Allison Bergen and Briana Inlow (Benevity) host a deep-dive workshop to address this disconnect: "The Volunteering Paradox: Why Corporate Volunteerism Is Booming but Nonprofits Still Need Help." This session goes beyond the "why" to reveal brand-new research on the growing gap between corporate investment and nonprofit impact. It’s time to move past transactional hours and toward true capacity building. You’ll leave with: ✅ Fresh data on exactly where corporate volunteering is falling short—and where the hidden opportunities lie ✅ Honest perspectives from both the corporate and nonprofit sides of the table ✅ Practical, peer-generated ideas across five key opportunity areas ✅ A clearer roadmap for making volunteering work for everyone involved If you’re ready to turn your volunteering program from a logistical challenge into a strategic powerhouse, this session at Engage for Good 2026 is for you. Register for #EFG2026, April 21–24: https://lnkd.in/gk8MNUBB Through March 31, general passes are $200 off with code APRILREADY26. Nonprofits: Your Premier Pass is always $400 off the standard rate.

Kicking off Day 1 at the PEAK Grantmaking Conference with an absolute legend 🥇 There are few people as inspiring as Olympian and East St. Louis native, Jackie Joyner-Kersee. Her keynote was a powerful reminder of why we do this work. While the world knows her for her Olympic medals, her true life’s work is at the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation. As she said: “It’s harder to run a community center than winning a medal!” My takeaways: 1️⃣ We cannot do this alone: "Philanthropy is a team sport." 2️⃣ Funding & sustainability: "Building is one thing; sustaining is another" this requires your full team. She spoke candidly about shifting their funding model from largely public grants and groups to 80% individual giving 3️⃣ For funders: "Don’t judge by zip code". Get on the ground and understand the community, so you can go from being an outsider to an insider 4️⃣ Resilience is key: “Keep running and knock on doors… you will find a way.” St. Louis is a community willing to work together, and her keynote set the tone for the week. The JJK Foundation is expanding with a new indoor track and field house, please consider supporting the cause! (with link in comment) What’s the best advice you’ve received about community building or philanthropy? #PEAK2026stl #PEAKConference #Philanthropy #CommunityImpact #Leadership #StLouis #NonprofitFunding #Benevity
