📢 Thank you for joining the IAI Conference 2026 in Paris On 11 March 2026, the International Arbitration Institute (IAI) welcomed practitioners, judges, academics and in-house counsel at Hôtel Le Marois for a morning of stimulating discussions around a central question: Does international arbitration still serve the needs of international business? Panelists including: Luca Radicatidi Brozolo, Isabelle Michou, Olivier Caprasse, Joanna Ghorayeb, Dominique Hascher, Olivier BROSSOLLET, Benjamin Roux, Merwan Lomri, Alison Pearsall, with moderation from Christophe Seraglini, Janice Feigher and Gisele Stephens-Chu, discussed: 🔹 Harmonization vs fragmentation of legal rules Discussions covered how international arbitrators should define the law applicable to rules in the “twilight zone” between procedural and substantive rules, parties’ expectations that international arbitrators bring an international perspective to the application of rules governing their disputes, and the need and tools for greater harmonization of rules in certain areas (such as res judicata). 🔹 International commercial courts and arbitration Judges from the Paris international chambers and the Singapore International Commercial Court explained the genesis and docket of international commercial courts, their key procedural features and how they aim to support (rather than compete with) international arbitration in their jurisdictions, contributing to the attractiveness of major dispute resolution hubs. 🔹 Meeting the expectations of international business Panelists discussed key business drivers for resorting to international arbitration, how to ensure the procedure is better tailored to the needs of the parties (both at the contract-drafting stage and later by the arbitral tribunal), the significance of the governing law, how experts can support businesses in their dispute resolution strategy and decision-making, and the tools for more efficiently resolving matters of expert evidence. 👏 The IAI thanks all participants for their valuable contributions and for making this edition such an engaging event. Special thanks to Yuri Yashiro, Anne-Lise Ménagé, Anna Rizzardi, and Thomas CHARNOTET for their support in organizing this event.

🌟 Spotlight Panelist – Isabelle Michou (Partner at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP) Panel 1: “Does international arbitration facilitate the harmonization or fragmentation of legal rules for international business?” Q1 – Why is this panel essential? We often hear these days that the international arbitration community should do more to find ways to reduce the ‘fragmentation’ of commercial disputes. Is ‘fragmentation’ a reality? And if it is, is it a bad thing? When parties choose international arbitration, do they really want or even care about convergence in decision-making? Q2 – What concrete insight will you share? I will focus more specifically on the parties’ expectations, whether it is on the substance of the law or the procedures employed in international arbitration. For instance, are the parties ready to abandon their right to choose an arbitrator to resolve their dispute? Do they expect that the law chosen to govern their contract will be applied in the same way as a national court would do? Q3 – Why should professionals attend? The participants should expect practical and interactive discussions on an issue that is not academic but is of concrete importance in international arbitration practice today. Procedural and substantive tools available to parties will be discussed by the panel based on actual experiences as arbitrator and counsel. ➡️ If this topic interests you, there’s still time to register for the conference on March 11, 2026: Register here (https://lnkd.in/eNaJ94K5) #InternationalArbitration #IAI #GlobalBusiness #DisputeResolution #ArbitrationInsights #LegalLeadership
