As part of Hong Kong Arbitration Week (#HKAW2026), Young ICCA is pleased to invite you to join us for a lively debate on one of the most prescient issues facing the future of international arbitration: “𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘏𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘈𝘐 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘭 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘧𝘶𝘯𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘭 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘭𝘶𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘳𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳, 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘴𝘦𝘭 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘺.” The event will take place on Friday, 23 October 2026 from 1:00–2:30 pm HKT and is generously sponsored by Johnson Stokes & Master and BRG. This year’s debate will invert the usual Young ICCA format by having senior #arbitration practitioners assume the role of debaters, while more junior lawyers make up the Tribunal. The event will also adopt a more dynamic format, with both scripted and unscripted follow-up questions raised by the Tribunal and hosts. ▪️ Tribunal: Jacky Fung (Freshfields), Jocelyn Heng (HKIAC), Nicholas Lee ( Quinn Emanuel) ▪️ Debaters: Simon Chapman KC (Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer), Thara Gopalan (American Arbitration Association- International Centre for Dispute Resolution® (ICDR)), Filip Nordlund (Legora), Winnie Tam SC SBS JP ( Des Voeux Chambers) ▪️ Hosts: Clemency Wang 王楚宁 ( White & Case LLP), Thomas Fearis (BRG) Join us for what promises to be a lively and thought-provoking discussion, followed by a networking reception with members of Hong Kong’s arbitration community. The event will be held in person at Johnson Stokes & Master in Hong Kong and will also be accessible remotely. 👉 Please register via the Hong Kong Arbitration Week Portal:https://lnkd.in/ek4tG_Yy

As space activities become increasingly commercialised and privatised, new questions arise concerning liability, investor protection, insurance mechanisms, and the interaction between public and private actors. Bringing together arbitration practitioners, general counsel, space-law specialists, and industry representatives, the webinar examined how existing legal frameworks are adapting to the realities of the trillion-dollar space economy. Across two panels, the discussion explored accountability for damage resulting from space activities, as well as risk management and investor protection—including questions of liability, insurance, contractual risk allocation and dispute resolution. • On 10 June 2026, Young ICCA co-organized “The Art of Oral Advocacy” with the Department of Law of Roma Tre University, with the support of the Roma Tre - UNIDROIT Centre for Transnational Commercial Law and International Arbitration. The workshop took place as an official side event of #ItalianArbitrationDay (#IAD). Following introductory remarks by Katrine Ritto Tvede and Carlo de Stefano, Benedetta Mauro presented the case study: whether an arbitral tribunal should order the disclosure of a third-party funding agreement and an after-the-event insurance agreement. Nicole Knebel and Veronika Timofeeva presented the parties’ submissions before a tribunal composed of Carolyn Lamm, Maria-Chiara Malaguti and Daniel Durante. The mock hearing explored the balance between procedural transparency, confidentiality, costs considerations and the protection of commercially sensitive information. Eva Paloma Treves then moderated a discussion on effective oral advocacy. Key takeaways included the importance of: • answering tribunal questions directly before elaborating; • protecting counsel’s credibility by conceding points that cannot reasonably be contested; • listening actively without allowing the opposing party to control the narrative; • adapting submissions to the tribunal’s composition and reactions; and • keeping the underlying purpose of the applicable rules in view. The combination of a realistic mock hearing, structured feedback and open discussion offered participants practical insight into the preparation and delivery of persuasive oral submissions in #InternationalArbitration. 👉 The full report can be found here: https://lnkd.in/dBkQQ3jn. A big thank you to the Department of Law of Roma Tre University and the Roma Tre-UNIDROIT Center for their invaluable support, and to Elisabetta Orsini for capturing the workshop’s discussions and key takeaways.
