Chief Sustainability Officer, Delta Air Lines

Some of the most meaningful progress in aviation happens when partners are willing to open their doors and hear directly from travelers.  Over the weekend, JetZero did exactly that, welcoming airline customers into its Long Beach Design Center for the first time. As we gathered to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Star Trek, it was a reminder of the role imagination plays in inspiring new possibilities and new innovations across our industry. The future of flight no longer exists exclusively in the world of science fiction. It is being built and taking shape today. It's important that Delta Air Lines customers have a seat at the table for these conversations. New aircraft and technologies are only part of the equation. Creating a better travel experience starts with listening to the people who fly with us and understanding what matters most to them. Thank you to Tom O'Leary, John Van Citters, our special guest Ethan Peck, and the teams at JetZero, Paramount+ and Joby Aviation for creating such a unique opportunity for our customers. And thank you to the customers who joined us and shared their time and love for Delta to help us shape the next stage of travel.

  • Thank you, Oregon Department of Aviation, for welcoming our autonomous J208 aircraft to Portland International Airport. We’re thrilled to be working alongside Oregon and the uFLY coalition to show what’s possible.

Joby Aviation’s autonomous J208 aircraft stopped at Portland International Airport (PDX) on October 2 as part of its 2026 Electric Skies Tour, showcasing technology designed to support future cargo and public service operations. For Oregon, autonomous aviation could offer new ways to transport medical supplies, reach rural communities and support emergency response across the state’s challenging terrain. Oregon is one of five states participating in the State of Utah’s uFLY: America’s AAM Crossroads to the West coalition, working with industry and government partners to explore how advanced aviation technologies can be safely integrated into the national airspace. Read the full press release to learn more about the demonstration and what it could mean for Oregon’s aviation future: https://lnkd.in/g7D-bYtW #OregonAviation #AdvancedAirMobility #AutonomousFlight #ElectricSkies #JobyAviation

Last month’s eIPP demonstrations in Texas weren’t just a showcase for quiet, vertical flight. They were the next step in a years-long effort to integrate electric air taxis into some of the most complex airspace in the world. Christabelle Bosson, PhD and Eric Mueller from our airspace team on what it took to fly real routes in Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) traffic and what it means for the future.

Thank you, San Francisco Fleet Week Association. Last weekend our full-scale model joined Fleet Fest on the Fisherman’s Wharf waterfront, and it was a privilege to be part of a week built around the people who serve. Between the Blue Angels overhead and the energy along the waterfront, we spent two days talking with service members, first responders, community leaders, Bay Area families, and visitors from across the globe about what quiet, vertical lift can mean for communities. We’re grateful to the Fleet Week organizers, to everyone who stopped by, and to the Joby team members who staffed the display all weekend. Special thank you to Brentwood Mayor Susannah Meyer and Councilmember Jovita Mendoza for visiting.

It was a pleasure to welcome senior representatives from the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority to our headquarters in California recently. It was an opportunity to review our program readiness together as we prepare to bring Joby’s electric air taxi service to Dubai. We look forward to flying in Dubai later this year - taking off vertically from the vertiport at the Dubai International Airport, flying to the Marina district in just a few minutes, and landing vertically again at the Skyports Infrastructure elevated vertiport just recently finished with the Joby Aviation electric chargers installed. Close collaboration is essential to bringing electric air taxi services to Dubai. Thank you to the RTA, GCAA, and Skyports teams for their continued engagement as we work toward this shared ambition, and to the Joby Aviation team behind the scenes for the hard work that makes the air taxi service possible. Special thanks to Aqeel Ahmed Abdelaziz Al Zarooni of the GCAA and Ali Al Nuaimi of the RTA for your leadership on behalf of the UAE Government and Anthony El-Khoury and Ife O. for your leadership at Joby Aviation as we work toward our flights later this year.
