Updates

  • As the drone threat rapidly evolves, mobile air defense can no longer rely on rigid, single-platform solutions. Building on the proven foundation of M-SHORAD Increment 1 (SGT STOUT), and M-LIDS, the U.S. Army’s counter-UAS mission is entering its next phase: M-SHORAD Increment 4, prioritizing vehicle-agnostic, reconfigurable, and palletized air defense capabilities. Joe Rolwes, Director of Business Development at Leonardo DRS, sat down with @TWZ to break down how modular architectures and expeditionary integration are shaping the future of force protection on the modern battlefield. • Breast cancer awareness is most meaningful when it brings people together in support of those facing the disease. For Carrie Robinson, Leonardo DRS’ Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Communications and head of Corporate Social Responsibility, that belief helps shape our annual Stick It to Cancer initiative. Through our partnership with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF), the initiative honors survivors, fighters and those who have lost the battle, and helps draw attention to the needs of military families affected by breast cancer. • Leonardo DRS is advancing the conversation around shipboard energy storage and the role it can play in the future of naval power. Our Principal Systems Engineer Tyler Brauhn presented team’s research paper “Bidirectional Virtual Synchronous Machine Control for Shipboard Energy Storage” at the IEEE Energy Conversion Congress and Exposition (ECCE) 2026 in Vancouver, Canada. Joined by colleague Daniel Drews, Tyler shared work focused on controls that enable shipboard battery energy storage to support the electrical grid while responding to rapidly changing power demands. This research reflects the depth of engineering across our Naval Power Systems team and our continued contribution to technologies that support the evolving needs of naval platforms. Join us in congratulating Tyler and the paper’s coauthors on this contribution to the power engineering community. #LeonardoDRS #NavalPower #EnergyStorage #PowerElectronics #Engineering #OwnTheEdge

  • We were pleased to welcome staff from Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX) to the Leonardo DRS booth at AUSA, where we showcased technologies that help protect service members and strengthen their operational advantage around the globe. It was a great opportunity to share how our aviation survivability programs, such as DAIRCM, help keep aircrews safe. We also enjoyed highlighting the work of our team in Dallas, Texas, while giving congressional staff a closer look at our advanced sensing, imaging, and targeting technologies. Building on more than 50 years of infrared detector innovation, our Dallas team is a leader in developing rugged, lightweight, and modular weapon sights and imaging systems that help soldiers detect threats, engage targets with precision, and enhance lethality while protecting the force.

  • Advancing space sensing. Protecting the homeland. Delivering defense technology at scale. During the AUSA Annual Meeting, Leonardo DRS was pleased to welcome staff from the office of Rep. Derek Tran (CA-45) to our booth for a briefing on critical programs underway by our Space team in California. The discussion highlighted our mission-enabling missile-warning and tracking payloads, space-based sensors capable of rapidly identifying wildfires, and seeker-head designs engineered for affordable, high-rate interceptor production. We appreciate the engagement with Rep. Tran’s office and the opportunity to highlight how local engineering in the 45th District supports national security priorities well into the next decade. #LeonardoDRS #AUSA2026 #SpaceSensing #MissileDefense #Innovation
