At New Riff, we’ve always believed in doing what we can to lift up our little corner of the world. Our annual Silver Grove releases are one of the ways we try to put that into practice. These bottles celebrate the home of our newest barrel warehouse in Silver Grove, Kentucky, and help support the community around it. Since the inaugural release in 2023, sales of Silver Grove Bourbon and Rye have raised more than $90,000 for the Silver Grove Community Foundation, which works to improve quality of life in the city through community-led projects. Funds from these releases have already helped build a new park at Green Valley Pond, with additional projects planned for the future. This release also honors a historic whiskey bottled under the Silver Grove name in the early 1900s at the Edward Brinkmann Distillery in Cincinnati’s Carthage neighborhood. Our label serves as a nod to the region’s distilling past while pointing toward New Riff’s future with our new warehouse in Silver Grove, a true New Riff on an Old Tradition. Bottled at barrel proof without chill filtration, this is the first-ever Silver Grove release aged at least 6 years old. About us
The northernmost stop on the Craft Bourbon Trail, we are a new riff on an old Kentucky tradition. Founded in 2014 by Ken Lewis, a visionary Kentucky liquor retailer and entrepreneur, New Riff is led by a team of corporate refugees ranging from craft beer to politics and more. New Riff crafts a range of whiskeys—Bourbon, Rye and eventually Malted Rye and a host of specialty recipes—as well as Kentucky Wild Gin. Our mission is simple: to someday be counted among the world’s great small distilleries. Becoming one of the great small distilleries of the world is a long-term play, with no exact ring to win, or title to be declared. We are independently owned by one family, and that independence, the freedom from outside pressures and interests has allowed us to make an unforeseen declaration for quality: for perhaps the first time since the inception of the Bottled in Bond Act in 1897, a Kentucky sour mash whiskey distillery has committed itself exclusively to that quality standard, the world’s highest. And we proudly lift that bar even higher by bottling without world’s great spirit regions; and a talented team individually committed to doing things the right way.
