  • Our Founder & CEO, Jacqueline Schafer, is a featured speaker tomorrow in Chicago at the 2026 NCWBA Women's Bar Leadership Summit. Her topic is "Unmute Yourself: Amplifying Women's Leadership Through Technology" (Session 2, Friday July 31 at 10:40am).  She’ll be exploring the hesitation lawyers often feel about sharing publicly about themselves, and how it relates to staying current in a world where clients and leadership increasingly look for tech fluency in the people they hire and elevate. Other speakers at the conference include -@Melissa Romano (Owner, Reclaiming Healthy), @Amanda Alexander (Alexander Law, P.A.), @Jami Cooper (Cooper Law Offices, PLLC), @Tami Munsch (Tami Munsch, Attorney at Law), @Sheila Abron (Fisher Phillips, LLP), @Mary Smith (VENG Group; former ABA President), @Justice Joy Cunningham (Illinois Supreme Court), @Justice Maria Salas Mendoza (Chief Justice, Texas Eighth Court of Appeals), @Hon. So last week, Oprah, Christina Aguilera, and I spoke at the same conference. 😮 I may have had slightly fewer people at my session than Oprah, and a notable absence of smoke machines compared to Xtina's concert, but we had over 500 HR leaders (!) join the room for our panel on "Closing the Gap: Smarter Compliance for HR's Riskiest Moments" at SHRM's Annual meeting. I'm just now realizing the missed opportunity to work "Genie in a Bottle" into the session title. But truly, I was so moved to share the stage with Clearbrief.ai customer Natasha Baker, who leads investigations nationally for major universities and corporations, and hear how our investigation tools are changing her practice. Our conversation focused on how the goal in using tech is not just time savings, but to ensure every single conclusion in an investigation report or employee relations response is documented with a reference to the facts. And our focus on security and privacy made all the difference for their firm in actually getting started with tech. We also loved hearing from Sarah J. Rodehorst from Onwards HR and their customer Katie Sammarco about how their tools are helping better document the employee separation process. For the 10K HR leaders who attended SHRM, what was your biggest takeaway on how AI is changing the work we do? And more importantly, what was your favorite Christina song from the concert?? Johnny C. I'm incredibly proud to share that Clearbrief.ai is one of only 4 companies selected out of 400 that applied to participate in SHRM's workplace tech accelerator program! What does this mean for our customers? It means we are doubling down on our internal investigations tools in Word with the benefit of SHRM's insights and industry reach. SHRM is arguably the biggest thought leader and training platform in the HR space, with 100s of thousands of human resources and employment law professionals in their network. SHRM selected Clearbrief because of its own research into the growing importance of internal investigations to their membership. Andrea Lucas of the EEOC made it abundantly clear in a video she posted in December and the follow-up letter she sent in Feb 2026 to Fortune 500 CEOs: the EEOC is taking an aggressive stance in investigating companies with DEI programs or orgs that have not appropriately responded to white men who have complained of discrimination. As one example, on March 19th, the EEOC announced it had settled with Planned Parenthood (PP) of Illinois to the tune of $500,000 to end the EEOC’s investigation into PP’s practices of offering different leave options to white and black employees, and requiring employees to take DEI training sessions. HR professionals and in-house legal teams handling internal investigations have never faced more scrutiny of their work product, and Clearbrief's investigation report workflow in Word ensures that every sentence of the investigation findings are backed by hard evidence. And we make it easy for leaders to review and access that evidence to support accurate, unbiased decisionmaking. So proud to be in this cohort along with: Mento: AI-powered leadership coaching that pairs leaders with operators who've actually done the job (Alex Marcus Jamie Albers) Onwards HR : turning one of HR's hardest moments, employee separation and offboarding, into a process that's both compliant and humane (Sarah J. Rodehorst) Testlify: skills-based hiring assessments in 14 languages, integrated with 100+ ATS platforms (Namrata Kamdar) If you handle internal investigations of any sort, please reach out so we can chat about what we've built at Clearbrief.ai and where we're headed with the help of SHRM! President & CEO, SHRM | F500 Board Director | I help shape the future of work. Follow for expert insights on leadership, civility, and workforce growth.

Nearly 400 companies applied to this year's SHRM Labs Workplace Tech Accelerator. That number alone tells you something. The pressure on HR leaders is real, and the market for solutions that actually work has never been more competitive. What stood out in this year's review wasn't just innovation for its own sake. It was practicality. Teams building tools that solve the problems HR leaders are dealing with right now: compliance complexity, workforce transitions, smarter hiring, and leadership development at scale. Four companies rose to the top. Congratulations to the 2026 cohort: Clearbrief.ai, Mento, Onwards HR, and Testlify. Each of these teams is building something worth watching. And with access to SHRM's global network of HR leaders, mentors, and partners, I'm genuinely excited to see what comes next. It's a pleasure to listen back to this conversation with Jack Newton and Damien Riehl as we chatted in plain language about our experiences in working directly with law firms to implement AI. Here's part of the discussion about AI hallucinations and the reality that checking over work product *with the same scrutiny you reserve for your tax returns* is the new norm. And it's what were supposed to have been doing all along before we file something with the court. Did anything else stand out for you from this conversation? Glad to be quoted in this piece from Law360 on why we continue to see sanctions cases on an almost daily basis where attorneys are misrepresenting facts and law in their filings. Katherine Forrest from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Jayne Reardon FISHER BROYLES LLP also shared their thoughts with Sarah Martinson on why we're likely to continue to see increasing penalties from judges. My understanding from meeting with leading AI scientists and even OpenAI's own research is that large language models will not ever be able to completely eliminate hallucinations, even as they improve, due to the nature of how these models work and how they're trained. But one practical safeguard that court rules committees could initiate today is to require hyperlinked filings, as many courts already do. Here's one of my quotes from the Law360 piece: "Schafer said that requiring hyperlinks to case law in briefs, which some courts already do, could curtail the problem. "It's the quickest, easiest way for the court to be able to see at a glance whether there is legal authority ... that backs up these sources," Schafer said. "It makes it 1,000 times easier for the reviewing court. But it's also a good practice, because in creating that hyperlinked version, it forces ... the lawyer to just double check and confront their own legal authorities and factual authorities." This is our mission at Clearbrief.ai - to make it faster for lawyers to satisfy their ethical duties to check work product by automatically displaying the source for every factual and legal cite from inside Word, and flagging every type of mistake before the filing. Since Clearbrief does that step, it only takes another click to create a hyperlinked version for filing so the judge can benefit from the linked sources, too. What other practical solutions are we missing to this problem? #ai #litigation #attorneydiscipline #law #courts
